CV: Corporate Counsel/ HR/ Manager -
As an experienced trial lawyer, manager, mental health therapist and professor, I value management of employment matters in a manner that nurtures team work and promotes profitability. I have represented companies in labor, employment and HR issues, as a manager and as a corporate attorney.
Corporate counsel: I managed HR functions, also coordinating litigation matters with outside counsel. I reviewed & drafted manuals, organizational policies, contracts for vendors & government grants, and a key strategic policy (joint operation of a health care program). I have advised companies on employment, business, risk management, elder law, real estate, immigration and international issues.
Attorney: Licensed as a lawyer in Washington (1988) & Hawaii (1994) I have litigated complex business & employment cases, including representing health care professionals. I have served as a mediator, arbitrator, and judge pro tem. I completed the UW Law School Labor-Employment & HR training (1996) and was nominated to be an officer of the WSBA Labor and Employment Law Section (2013). I have served as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem, teaching continuing education to nurses, lawyers and mental health professionals on elder law issues (guardianship alternatives/preventing elder abuse).
Manager/College Professor: During 8 years with United Airlines, I held various management positions in sales, operations, & administration-personnel, earning an M.A. in clinical psychology. I represented management in labor/grievance procedures. From 2010-2012 I was in-house legal counsel for Heritage University, advising the administration on HR and employment issues.
