Plant Manager, Steel Plate Fabricators, 3703 Papermill Road, Knoxville, TN 37909

**Manage all aspects of operations of a heavy fabrication facility. Operations include a full machine shop, cutting operations, laser, oxyfuel and plasma, welding operations, includes developing weld procedures in support of customer needs, braking, shearing and rolling.

**Oversee all operations in a full machine shop. Program in G-code, and various automated programs, such as, Master Cam and Esprit Cam. Order tooling as necessary to support upcoming jobs in the machine shop.

**Trouble shoot and repair CNC machinery as needed, including calibrating frequency drives, changing and replacing circuit cards, repairing hydraulic and air actuated equipment as necessary.

**Brought numerous new CNC machines on line including a Monarch VMC-175B and a Cincinnati 350 ton CNC press brake. Both machines have increased the plant’s capacity and help bring our customers better quality products, in reduced lead times.

**Developed new processes for the machine shop, specifically machining of high specification tube sheets resulting in a new revenue stream for the company. February, 2008 to 2015:

**Designed work cells, fixtures and assembly lines for the Army Tactical Water Purification System

(TWPS) that streamlined the assembly process and cut 12 hours off each set of assemblies.

**Laid out and line balanced assembly operations for the Army Containerized shower and laundry facility. Designed work cells to feed the assembly line complete with jigs, fixtures, work instructions and check list so semi-skilled labor could be utilized.

**By utilizing light sensors, designed a system that would allow the waterjet to run lights out without the possibility of being clogged and creating material and or waterjet damage. This system was used by OMAX for other customers with permission.

**Oversaw all outside machining process of complicated hard to machine components. Worked with outside vendors to ensure that their processes were sound and able to meet strict drawing tolerances.

**Project Manager and Project Engineer on six million dollar CVN-79 (Carrier Vehicle Nuclear) main condenser project, brought the project in on time and in budget. Dealt with our customer, Graham Corporation, and the U.S. Navy to successfully overcome manufacturing and design issues.

**Estimated large Navy Aftermarket jobs that consisted of welding, fabrication, machining and coordinating with outside vendors a necessary. Most of these jobs utilized exotic materials, such as, Titanium, Hastalloy, Inconel and Copper Nickles.

**Welding Engineer for Military Operations. Developed welding procedures in accordance with Tech Pub 278, 248 and Mil-Std-22 in support of High Specification Navy projects. Utilizing Hastelloy 276, Inconel 625, 2205 Duplex, 2507 Super Duplex, 70/30 Copper Nickel, 90/10 Copper Nickel, HY80 and various types of stainless steels and carbon materials.

**Designed and manufactured successful Army prototypes for the HIPPO (Load Handling System Compatible Water Tank Rack) program and the LWPS (Lightweight Water Purification System) water programs. These prototypes were the basis of production units that are in use on the battlefield today in support of our war fighters.

**Expert with measuring complicated parts using the FARO Ion Laser Scanner and FARO EDGE arm. I am proficient with programming OMAX water jet and Mazak and Monarch Vertical Milling Centers. January 2004 to February 2008

Director of Manufacturing and Engineering, Master Spas Inc., Fort Wayne, IN

**Designed and oversaw the work to build a new manufacturing facility that utilized modern manufacturing techniques, 5S, Lean and improved flow. Before construction the new plant, the factory capacity was only 75 spas per day on three shifts. After the completion of the new facility the manufacturing capacity was boosted to 125 spas per day on one ten hour shift.

**Designed unique material handling solutions utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Adjustable Frequency motor drives, Linear actuators and air over hydraulic systems to automate the majority of the material handling and assembly process.

**Instituted an ISO compliant procedure program. This program standardized the processes in the area of Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Engineering. This resulted in increased efficiency and better internal and external customer service.

**Managed the daily activities of a sixty million dollar a year manufacturing facility. Oversaw the efforts of Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Manufacturing, responsible for a yearly budget in excess of two million dollars.

May 2000 to January 2004

Sales Engineer, Pentair Water, Moorpark, CA.

**Grew sales in my territory from two million to over eight million in three years. I grew sales through increased customer contact, and by offering value added Engineering services to my clients.

** Worked closely with customers to design and bring to production custom parts that were unique to my clients. I used my manufacturing experience to consult on manufacturing issues that my clients were having. Built customer loyalty by using the value added approach.

**Work with the Pentair pump team to design and build a variable speed prototype for the spa industry. This pump was ultimately deemed to durable to sell, so we applied for seventeen patents and the technology was shelved.

January 1993 to May 2000

Chief Engineer, L.A. Spas Inc., Los Angeles, CA, Etowah, TN

**Responsible for the Engineering effort at a two manufacturing locations. I supervised the efforts of six to ten Engineers at both manufacturing locations.

**Standardized both Engineering and Manufacturing processes at both locations, so that all product coming from both locations was identical.

**Designed molds for deep draw thermoforming, equipment for spraying and forming fiberglass, fiberglass cutting systems and fixtures for manufacturing. August 1980 to January 1990
