Mechanical Fitter

Use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical

plant machinery and equipment to operational standards.

Work includes the identification of defective or worn mechanical components or

equipment, repair/replacement of worn/faulty components or equipment and

modifications.

Parts may be repaired or manufactured using the general application of workshop

machines.

Use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit.

Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing

Tends machine that pulverizes solid or semisolid materials used in manufacturing

Installs screens of specified type and mesh in machine, using hand tools.

Starts grinder and observes ground product discharged onto conveyors or into containers for impurities, lumps, or improperly sized particles.

Cleans machine and conveyors, using air hose, scrapers, and brushes, to prepare equipment for grinding subsequent batches.
