• Manage Transportation team members

• Conduct annually/Periodically Transportation market surveys to ensure the appropriate rates are obtained

• Negotiates/conducts transportation contracts in coordination with the operation manager

• Provide training/guidance to address the transportation team operation needs to ensure their efficiency in achieving their operational targets/expectations

• Collect carrier performance data, undertake analysis and develop KPIs for monitoring effectiveness and efficiency of Sayga’s transport system in terms of transit times, damage and loss incidents as well as cost reduction opportunities.

• Manage supplier relationships, including initiating supplier development and continuous improvement programs, identifying best practice, and sharing it amongst carriers.

• Formulate transport capacity plans for wheat and flour shipments in liaison with production and sales & marketing.

• Supervise the implementation of transport plans and fulfillment of requirements including carrier selection, routing and scheduling with the assistance of supply officers in the transport unit.

• Co-ordinate with Port Sudan to ensure the availability of appropriate transport resources for wheat and other items.

• Ensure carrier operations strategy and investments are in line with Sayga’s requirements.

• Maintain and strengthen the links between the Transport Unit and its internal customers in Sayga.

Logistics Officer /Outbound / Lease Mill :

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate between Khartoum and Port Sudan on the quantities and schedule for all raw materials,

• Receive all raw material including wheat,improver, plastic bags and record stock level for these items,

• Physical verification of incoming wheat and other raw material for compliance with Sayga’s quality assurance regulation prior to unloading,

• Supervise unloading and storage of raw materials and finish product,

• Receive from production and record and stock count finished product on a daily basis,

• Supervise dispatch and shipments of finished products in coordination with sales and marketing,

• Identify transport requirements and execute transport plan in coordination with the senior logistics officer,

• Select transporters for shipments within sayga transport framework, in coordination with the senior logistics officer,

• Ensure timely availability of trucks and trains,

• Manage relationship with transporters as well as agents/customer/consignees,

• Ensure compliance of storage area and transport vehicles with Sayga’s hygiene and quality assurance regulations,

• Prepare and send on a daily basis, sales invoice, sales report,stock reports, inbound and outbound shipment reports and other required operational reports to relevant persons in Khartoum and Portsudan,

Logistics Officer – Inbound :

Responsibilities:

• Supervise Wheat Receiving Store Clerks on wheat shipments and ensure correct documentation and intactness of seals in the case of bulk shipments.

• Ensure and enter accurate data in the inventory system (Sage).

• Process wheat shipments receipt and documentation.

• Enter wheat stocks on Sage for SFM’s sites in Port Sudan, Sennar, Bagair, Atbara, Rail Silos and Khartoum.

• Tracking & Tracing of all inbound shipments (wheat & non-wheat) in liaison with Port Sudan and respective carrier.

• Request specialized material handling equipments such as forklifts and cranes based on operational requirements, in liaison with production, stores and mill engineering, and ensure timely payments for these service providers.

• Receive container cargo and ensure return of empty containers with correct documentation back to Port Sudan in liaison with the relevant carrier and clearing agent.

• Supervise container unloading and loading on truck or train.

• Receive general and equipment cargo and ensure correct documentation in coordination with relevant store.

• Process manifests, invoices and payments for all inbound shipments for wheat and non-wheat items at SFM’s sites in Khartoum, Bagair and Sennar.

• Perform any other tasks requested by his direct supervisor or department manager.

• Controlling the supply of diesel from suppliers to Sayga at the different location.
