ACADEMIC PROJECT

Title : Low Power Digital Signal processor Architecture for wireless Sensor Nodes

Team Size : 5

Application Tools: Xilinx14.2, Modalism

Description: Radio communication exhibits the highest energy consumption in wireless sensor nodes. Their limited energy supply from batteries or scavenging, these nodes must trade the data communication for on-the-node computation. Presently they are designed around low power microcontrollers.

EXISTING SYSTEM: Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) application ranges from medical monitoring to environment sensing, industrial inspection and military surveillance. Since the radio transmissions are very expensive in terms of energy, they must be kept to a minimum order to extend node life time. The data communication must be traded for on-the-node processing which in turn can convert the many sensor readings into few useful data values.

IMPLEMENTING SYSTEM: The goal of this project is to design an ultra-low-energy WSN digital signal processor to save energy by the following:

Limiting data set by preprocessing with parallel prefix operations.

The reuse of binary tree as folded tree.

The combinations of data flow and control flow elements introduce a local distributed memory.
