Project
TPG Replacement
Customer
Cigna Corporate LLC
Period
March ‘13 to Oct’13
Description
Cigna has repatriated their gateway and intake process which were hosted and managed by HP. The HP trading partner gateway (TPG) is a proprietary solution that is shared by multiple HP clients. Cigna has replaced the HP TPG with a newly developed TPG using a combination of Sterling and EDIFECS components. This is the first of a multi-phased program to transition from an HP managed to a Cigna managed solution for Cigna TPG, claim intake and outbound processes and all associated activity monitoring and reporting capabilities.
834 EDI transactions are used for electronically exchanging health plan enrolment data between employers and health insurance carriers. An 834 file contains a string of data elements and each data element represents a fact, such as a subscriber’s name, hire date, etc. The entire string is called a data segment
The EDI 835 transaction is used for Health Care Claim Payment and Remittance Advice.
The 835 is used primarily by Healthcare insurance plans to make payments to healthcare providers, to provide Explanations of Benefits (EOBs), or both. When a healthcare service provider submits an 837 Health Care Claim, the insurance plan uses the 835 to detail the payment to that claim, including: What charges were paid, reduced or denied, Whether there was a deductible, co-insurance, co-pay, etc., Any bundling or splitting of claims or line items and how the payment was made, such as through a clearinghouse
Had handled the testing activities of both 834 and 835 transactions during the TPG repatriation through file comparison – transaction file generated in HP TPG Gateway vs transaction file generated in Cigna TPG Gateway.
