These technologies range from wireless communications, noise reduction and filtering, circuit development, and design and prototyping, to the development of software applications to support the modeling and simulation required for systems analysis and experimental design.

Provided Project Management support for DMS expertise in areas to develop complex algorithms for flight control and near-real time data collection and analysis as well as signal enhancement of micro-sensor data. DMS has also supported the field-testing and evaluation of these systems and conducted performance analyses in support of Verification and Validation studies. This performance analysis work can be applied for both Critical Design Review and Test Readiness.

Provided Project Management support for DMS engineers in applying their telemetry and ballistics experience to assist NASA engineering projects associated with both the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) and the Mars Science Lab

(MSL) designs for their capsule shape. The work included instrumenting a sub-scale model with inertial sensors and pressure transducers, launching it from a 7-inch smooth bore gun, and telemetering free flight data back to a ground station. The data will be used as part of a NASA research project for real-time pressure measurements across the heat shield. Designs based on this data can enhance the control systems during entry to the Mars atmosphere to improve future missions.
