Colton, CA HR Manager – Field Operations May 2015- Present HR business partner for a union railcar repair facility of 80 employees. After developing a sound understanding of the railcar repair operations and business, I have successfully partnered with the local and corporate management team to identify, develop and execute facility goals.

Labor Relations:

o Interpretation and administration of a master collective bargaining agreement. o Work with the local union committee to communicate and address employee issues, including the grievance process.

o Participated in negotiations with the United Steel Workers and lead a sub-committee to focus on research around various negotiated topics.

Talent Acquisition:

o Maintained safety, quality and productivity levels with 25% of the workforce being new in 2015. This was attributed to a more consistent onboarding plan and better quality of hires. o Manage full cycle recruiting for all hourly and salary positions – around 30 hires per year. o Analyze work flow, personnel placement, and other strategic personnel issues with the management team.

Training and Organizational Development:

o Develop and facilitate ongoing front-line supervisor training that supports the business, including training on progressive discipline, documenting, crucial conversations, conflict management, labor relations, interviewing skills, time management, company policies, State and Federal laws, rewards and recognition and career development.

Employee Relations:

Safety and Health:

o Maintained a zero DART rate which was attributed to creating a safety culture and offering ongoing behavioral based safety training in 2016.

o Manage all Worker’s Compensation claims and help provide injury management. o Manage the pre-employment and annual physical process; including, sourcing and switching to a new occupational health clinic.

o Helped with various EHS related projects and administration, including training facilitation.

Payroll, Compensation and Administration:

o Provide employee guidance on all employee benefits, including medical insurance, retirement including pension coordination, Employee Assistance program (EAP), tuition reimbursement. o Oversee time entry and payroll processing.

o Managed the full cycle recruiting for exempt and non-exempt positions in the Field Services Operations group, a non-union group. This is on average 20-30 open positions across North America.

o Participated in a Kaizen event to develop the hiring process for over 25 locations across North America.

o Created a standard work hiring process throughout the Organization, including Corporate and Field locations. Identified bottlenecks in the process improving speed and cost.

Training and Organizational Development:

o Created and implemented a standard onboarding plan across the Operations-Field Services network.
