Business
Overview
Till date, ADVANCE AUTO PARTS is having 5200 company owned and 1300 independently owned stores. After acquiring Car Quest, Worldpac - integration between their systems is started. Now they have started to bring the Independent stores under the same AAP umbrella. That is why this Integrated Availability project is on the way by which Advance Auto parts will have the capability of keeping all the inventory, sales details of those Independent stores which will be supplied to them from AAP side and on the same independent stores will have the ability to keep other items from other vendors in their stores which is not associated with AAP.
Technical
Overview
Car Quest Independent stores uses Exploris system. Through this project, AAP will send a maintenance feed from AS400 system to Exploris system via tilde delimited flat file based on the Opt in/ Opt out criteria set in Location Master – a Java program which will determine for which Line/part Number, Independent Stores will need the inventory at their hand from AAP. And the same feed will send to different WMS systems available in Advance – those are Red Prairie, Exeter and High Jump.

This new SSQ field is introduced in RMS and AS400 systems for all existing and new items. A new conversion mechanism is built in RMS to convert incoming data from vendors that do not sell to Advance Auto Parts (AAP) below pack/box size for items that have an SSQ greater than 1. It creates one time conversion programs to set the SSQ for all items and blow out the on hands for all existing items with an SSQ greater than 1.

This project eliminated the need to re-use AAP SKUs by creating the ability to link SKUs together for historical sales reporting, inventory tracking, and demand forecasting. It has improved the AAP customer experience by ensuring the customer receives the same item they viewed/ordered in-store or online. It provides the capability to have a one-to-one relationship between AAP SKU and CQ Line Code/Part Number, solving the many-to-one cross reference issue.
Technical
Overview
It builds the ability to link SKU’s together so that they are available to all corporate systems. Starting from AS400, RMS, AAMS Custom Mix, Store planner, IKB, ASR, AWR, WMS, Zilliant, E-commerce, EPC, EDW. AAP uses an Assortment Planning Tool i.e. Oracle RMSX – a Java Application where Linking/Delinking is done based on SKU creation from STEP application. 5.New Commercial Pricing (NCP)
Business
Overview
The goal of the Commercial Exception/List Pricing project is to introduce to the pricing process the concept of pricing exceptions to be executed at the commercial customer account level. Also, it will introduce not only new methods for calculating list price for customers but will offer the ability for customers to customize the calculation of the list price to suit their needs.
Technical
Overview
The New Commercial Pricing project introduces a new pricing method that can be applied at an individual customer account level, as opposed to a grouping of customers. Referred to as exception pricing it in essence provides a systematic override of the pricing available through the customers’ normal pricing methods and addresses a need to allow pricing deviation from a customer’s assigned pricing group for specific products. The pricing can be set at any level of the merchandise hierarchy, with or without brand code restriction, or to a SKU group with one or more SKUs.
The pricing Engine is maintained in AS400, then the price feeds into CCDB which is a Oracle DB to identify the related commercial customer, then it goes to ES (Enterprise Services) as Central Repository where all pricing logic gets applied and then it feeds to APAL (store systems – POS/Point of Sale) to see it in POS register and at last it reaches to EDW for Reporting.
List pricing functions are also included in the New Commercial Pricing project. The business will have the ability to set default list pricing using the same parameters available for exception pricing
