The MLT position that I worked as was a general position involving chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. I also did the plot/graphing of calibration of the reagents. I set up the machines in the AM doing QC and controls for the shift. I would also reconstitute the controls and the reagents that were needed for the day. There is also an Oncology department, so I am able to read cancer slides as well as for the general population. With rotation weekly on start up of machines or phlebotomy during the start of the shift.

Beginning as a lab aide, I chose to further pursue this career. At which point I went to college to become a medical laboratory technician while continuing to work. While working there I was a generalist, worked microbiology, streaking and reading plates for cultures of urine, sputum, and bodily fluids. I worked the general floor in hematology with also running and reading slides of human and animals.
