Job Objective

To advance my career in the manufacturing industry by utilizing my vast array of work experience, knowledge of the industry, and education to help your company achieve its desired goals.

Experience

Production Supervisor

October 2016 – Current Mississippi Tan Tec, Vicksburg, Mississippi

As Supervisor of the finishing department, I am responsible for all of the processes given to the leather and all of the aspects requested by our customers, including texture, feel, thickness, color and waterproofing.

As a leader I am proud of the achievements we have made as a department and a plant as a whole. I have seen a 40% increases in volume and a 25% decrease in returns.

I have implemented a new safety program that in turn has given us a 60% reduction in filed injuries in the plant. I do a morning safety briefing every morning with my department, and I have implemented a “First In” program for peoples first day at work which alerts new people to the immediate dangers on the floor as well as explains important safety procedures such as emergency machine stops, chain of command, potential safety hazard awareness, and workers’ rights.

At the request of the VP, I began to audit all the departments in the facility. I used the data gathered from that audit to do a presentation to each of the departments highlighting issues and how they affect day to day operations. At which point I involved supervisors and their leads from those departments to establish plans to address the issues with time lines. I also used this data to setup information boards for each machine containing clear and safe work instructions, examples of past issues, and bar graphs showing down time and the reasons for them.

Production Manager

January 2012- March 2016 Huttig Building Products, Jackson, Mississippi

Oversaw 30+ employees working the production floor in a mill work manufacturing plant. I held daily meetings every morning allowing me to address issues from the prior day, get feedback from my employees, establish daily goals and go over any safety issues of the prior day whether an in house issues or from another branch.

Ensured that safety requirements were met by employees, visitors, and customers. I hosted the monthly safety meetings, received awards from corporate for outstanding safety record and established a safety committee made up of people from each department emphasizing the message that safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Worked with sales team to manage and correct tickets. By doing so I was able to get more automation put into our ticket entering system beginning with the most common errors. As a team we were able to reduce errors to the tickets, and by doing so reduce the inventory variance of the items in said ticket.

Ordered supplies, ordered machine parts, scheduled maintenance, and made maintenance check list for each machine operator. Because the quality, and upkeep of the machines directly correlates to the quality of the product coming off that machine.

Took on customer satisfaction as a personal goal. I took repair crews out to the job sites of our customers to correct issues and reassured the customer we stand behind them as well as the quality of our product. I gave regular presentations of new products and tours of the facility. I established a quarterly meeting called “tour and train” where we invited our customers for tours of the plant, as well as bringing in our venders to teach classes on their products. By keeping it fun and showing the faces behind the scenes we saw a direct correlation between the companies that took the tour and the variety of the products ordered from said customer.

Distribution Manager

May 2001-December 2011 Bluff Springs Paper Company, Kosciusko, Mississippi

Started as Assistant Shipping Clerk and worked my way up through various positions such as Shift Leader, Shipping Clerk, Material Handler, Manufacturing Supervisor, and finally Distribution Manager.

Responsible for many aspects of the manufacturing process during my time including managing the day-to-day warehouse operations and inventory, scheduling orders, assigning tasks, planning and implementing a warehouse efficiency initiative, dealing with outbound freight logistics, prioritizing job materials depending on the task at hand, managing crews.
