Forterra (formerly Hanson Building Products) is the largest manufacturer of pipes and related accessories for water transmission and drainage in North America. This is the fasting growing company in the water works industry with over 5,000 employees.

CIO/Vice President of IT

Reporting to the COO, managing a team of internal and vendor staff, responsible for managing the transformation and on-going IT functions including vendors, staff, budgets and execution.

Key accomplishments

Managed a $1.3B carve out and integrated five acquisitions and de-merged two divestitures. Supported the launch of a successful IPO and passed external audit with no issues.

Developed the three-year IT strategy, built up the IT function ground up, kept operating expense below industry bench marks for process industry and achieved 4.23 customer satisfaction rating on a five-point scale.

Implemented a corporate data warehousing solution for management and executive reporting, reducing report generation time from one week to hours.

Vice President of IT

Reporting to the CFO, managed a team of internal and outsourced staff to support a multi-site 24x7x365 manufacturing and distribution operation. Responsible for all IT functions from a program management, staffing, budgetary and execution standpoint.

Key Accomplishments

Aligned the key business processes to support successful integration of several M&A activities.

Led the implementation of ERP and supporting applications for demand planning, data collection, credit card processing and EDI. Eliminated $1.8 M in inventory and improved inventory accuracy from 85% to high 90s.

Reduced information cycle time by over 50% and established a single source of the truth. Created the organization’s Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing strategy and implemented robust reporting and analytics solution.

Achieved 100% EDI compliance with all trading partners, 100% SLA in transaction delivery and 99.98% accuracy in transactions with trading partners such as Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Dicks Sporting, Academy, Costco and Cabela’s.

Asst Vice President of Business Information Systems

Reporting to the Group CIO, had the dual responsibilities of managing the corporate financial systems in the US and CIO for the company’s India Operations. Defined IT strategies and oversaw the implementation of a major transformational initiative that brought the corporate functions in line with current technologies.

Key Accomplishments

Defined the 3 year IT systems strategy that included Networks, Voice Technologies, Applications, Business Intelligence, Document Management, Workflow and shared services.

Implemented solutions that resulted in $1M recurring cost efficiencies. Managed the upgraded the existing JD Edwards application and implemented a global footprint for multi-currency and multi-ledger operations. Implemented this solution in US, UK, Australia and India over a 2 year period. About 100+ locations use the application and reporting foot print.

Saved over $2M in annual staffing costs by establishing a global delivery center in India. Established and staffed technology COEs, 24x7x365 support and helpdesk service for the corporate financial systems in India.
