Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), China Oct 2008 – May 2009 Final Year Project Title: Research on the Optimization of the Structure of Urban Passenger Transport System Based on Energy Consuming

l Explored an optimization method to plan passenger transport system and did a case study on Beijing. l Collated 5 years of data, and identified the critical role of passenger transport system in carbon emissions in Beijing by analyzing its structure in terms of ratios (i.e. different transport modes occupied in the system, etc.). l Formulated the calculation of energy consumption with a built mathematical model (using linear programming) to discover an appropriate structure successfully thereby minimizing carbon emissions and congestion cost. l Delivered an optimal structure which reduced energy consumption by 58%; proposed a strategic goal whereby different transport modes occupy in the system for future development. WORK EXPERIENCE

Chongqing Rail Transit Design and Research Institute, China – Engineer Apr 2010 – Oct 2014 l Proposed operational solutions for about 10 projects (inclusive 4 overseas projects) with recommendations to MRT operators.

l Compiled diligence reports and preliminary design reports for 4 MRT lines; these undergoing intensive construction to meet the official launch opening for operation before 2018. l Presented successfully to a panel of experts at 8th National and Provincial Conference for technical examination; optimized solutions and revised reports accordingly to enhance engineering design further. l Designed the general constructional layout for about 6 MRT depots. l Liaised with the government agencies, construction enterprises, municipal planning bureau, municipal construction committee and professionals from engineering sectors in all projects initialization to their implementation and deliveries.

Project 1: Practical Research on Networking Operation of Chongqing MRT Network l Contributed to China’s First Practical Engineering Design for networking operations of urban MRT network by proposing a comprehensive constructional and operational solution for Line 5, Line 5 Branch and Line 10. l Gathered and translated English and Japanese literatures on Japan Railway, Tokyo Metro, Chicago L, Munich U-bahn and so on; explored with diligence studies on these robust transport networks with insights shared among team members.

l Compiled a 120-page research report, and presented our proposed solutions to a panel of experts; all solutions were granted application for future construction. Solutions to Line 10 had been implemented successfully. l Mentored junior colleagues to brainstorm solutions for Line 4 and Line 9 by sharing experience, knowledge and insights.

Project 2: Revision of Regulatory Plan on Rail Transit Network of Chongqing l Developed operational proposals for Subway - “Line 8” and Monorail - “Line 16”. l Engineered the general design layouts for yards and depots of these two lines. l Explored based customer demand analysis to provide advices on system scale to MRT operators. l Reported designing outcomes to Municipal Planning Bureau with negotiation on land usage. Project 3: Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design for Chongqing Rail Transit Line 10 l Investigated the design layout of platforms and tracks at stations. l Analyzed the patterns and traffic of passengers in terms of their behavior and demand; planned strategically with systematic operational scheme enhanced accordingly. l Devised a special solution for the airport to ensure the comfort for boarding passengers at the airport station. l Executed all the technical examination processes for Line 10; the team effort was positively recognized and credited by panel experts for putting forward an operational solution that balanced commuters’ requirements and airport passengers’ needs.

Chongqing Rail Transit (Group)Co., Ltd., China – Station Chief Jul 2009 – Mar 2010 l Scheduled the daily duties of team members, executed routine inspections, and in-charged of ticketing task preparation for every shift.

l Oversaw the daily smooth operation of equipment and made timely reports to immediate superior upon identifying abnormal situations.

l Communicated effectively with passengers, and being sensitive towards their needs with actions; delivered necessary instructions to enforce station in order. l Coped emergencies readily to ensure passengers’ safety with measures in already placed l Achieved a 10-months smooth operation of the station without a complaint from passengers.
