Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Advise employees and management on minimizing and eliminating workplace risks. Establish, prepare, implement, revise and maintain policies and procedures to meet current and known future environmental, safety and health requirements.

Create, implement and continually update safety training. Develop and maintain resource information. Provide regular safety training to employees in partnership with team leaders and managers on all shifts.

Update all safety manuals, orientation programs and safety guidelines. Conduct new employee safety orientations. Prepare and distribute all safety communications.

Conduct job safety analyses and risk assessments to develop safe work procedures on all shifts. Compile data to assess existing processes and practices; determine severity and frequency of problems; identify needs and solutions. Design and implement special programs to correct adverse safety performance trends.

Identify critical safety awareness aspects for each work area and establish a program to train employees who are coming into these areas from other departments to assist with the workload.

Interpret state and federal regulations and standards, following company policies and safety procedures.

Coordinate the administration of workers’ compensation program and return to work program, including communication with providers, insurance carriers and employees.

Transport injured employees to and from clinic/hospital when medical treatment is necessary. Work with doctors to get employees back to work the same day or as soon as possible after the incident.

Investigate accidents. Review and analyze accident and incident reports to determine root causes. Report solutions for accident prevention.

May plan and conduct facility audits and recommend actions for the correction of hazardous situations. Conduct operational audits of required safety related documentation to ensure compliance. Prepare audit result reports and follow up on remediation required.

Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual required reports for environmental, safety and health.

Ensure compliance of local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in workers’ compensation statutes and case law; federal, state and industry occupational standards and codes; and their effect on prevention programs.

Enforce and maintain document control for ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001.

Airgas Merchant Gases, Madison, WI 2007 - 2014

Airgas Merchant Gases produces and distributes medical, industrial and food grade gas products, provides applications development and support and manages the supply chain for products sold through both bulk and packaged gas channels.

Safety, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Coordinator

Responsible for internal safety and compliance auditing, procedure writing and training while ensuring a safe work environment at 16 locations throughout the country.

Monitor and implement all on-site safety and accident prevention programs.

Manage post-audit activities and follow-up on any necessary corrective and preventive actions.

Manage OSHA recordkeeping to include accident investigation and root cause reporting.

Oversee Management of Change database.

Participate in regulatory inspections with FDA.

Provide recommendations to Quality Management for improvement in compliance based on knowledge and understanding of cGMP regulations and industry standard.

Remain current on all OSHA regulations and update job site personnel as needed.

Review incidents / accidents and “near-miss” reporting.

Serve as team leader in the creation, development and training of internal local safety procedures and forms.

Travel extensively to 16 facilities throughout the country as the lead auditor / co-auditor for quality, food safety and safety internal audits.
