Quality Control Engineer, Carborundum Universal Limited July 2013 –Jun 2014

Identifying and fulfilling quality requirements of customers for new and in production grinding wheels.

Evaluating mechanical, physical and chemical properties of manufactured products.

For nonconforming parts respond with an organized and documented containment as well as corrective action (utilizing 8D typically).

Auditing product realization process to ISO 9001 and 13485. Guides team to address nonconformance.

Provided support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, and analysis of out- of-control conditions.

Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern, Vizag Steel May 2012 - Jun2013

Worked on projects based on Process improvement and recovery of Iron from LD slag in Quality Assurance Department.

Practical observation of several Manufacturing Units. Enables collaborative relationships between customers, suppliers, and internal departments to prevent Quality related wastes.

Implemented various continuous improvement methods to enhance the quality and efficiency of practices currently applied.

These methods included; time studies, determination of time standards, method analysis, delay and downtime analysis. Materials Research Intern, IIT Kanpur May 2011 - July2011

Synthesis and Characterization of new high entropy alloys and listing the advantages over traditional alloys.

CoCuFeNi, AlCoFeNi, CoCrFeNi, AlCoCuFeNi (High entropy alloys of Cobalt, Iron, nickel, Chromium, Copper and Aluminum) were synthesized through Induction Melting.

Alloys were characterized using XRD and SEM. Mechanical properties of the alloys are tested using Universal Testing Machine.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Synthesis and Characterization of Transparent Composite electrodes Oct 2016-Present

Carried out Physical Vapor Deposition (Sputtering and Evaporation) of transparent composite oxides of oxide/metal/oxide compositions on flexible substrates for future electronic applications.

Characterized the samples using FE-SEM and RBS for physical properties

Conducted Hall measurements and Four-point probe for electrical properties

Performed Spectrometer analysis with corresponding lamps for optical properties.

Performed systematic data analysis to study and interpret the effect of the metal layer thickness on the optical and electrical properties of the sample.

Study of Water Permeation through Hydrophobic and durable Polysiloxane coating for improving topside corrosion resistance- Nov 2014-Dec2015

Characterization of moisture diffusion of the Sample using Infrared spectroscopy techniques (FTIR) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is done.

Differences among various coatings is explained using SEM analysis.

Regression Analysis is done to estimate the various coating parameters.

As a result of the experiments conducted it is observed that the coatings developed are more corrosive resistant than the available commercial alkyd coatings.

Effect of Tensile strain on Galvanic Corrosion using Electrochemical Characterization Techniques Aug 2015-Dec 2015

Comparison is made between 5 % strained and normal samples for Al7075-stainless steel and Al7075- Titanium Couple

The characterization is made through electrochemical Tests like cyclic polarization, Taefel, Potentiostatic and galvanostatic

Experiments.

Depth profiling is also done through optical depth profilometer for samples which are exposed to severe corrosive environment using Q fog Corrosion testing chamber. Application of Six Sigma for Reduction in Work Roll change time in a Rolling Mill May 2015-Aug 2015

The effect of reducing delays in the mill on productivity is studied through six sigma DMAIC methodology.

SIPOC approach is used to identify the elements of the process.

Root Cause Analysis is done to identify the major time consuming activities.

Detailed analysis of work roll change time is done by preparing Grantt Chart. IM-R control chart is used in the control phase. The average delay time per year is reduced from 28.2 mins to 25.7 mins with almost no investment of money. Statistical Analysis of Mobile Battery Backup using Minitab Aug 2014-Dec 2014

Conducted experiment to determine which smart phone between Google Nexus 5 and Samsung SIII has the best battery backup.

Also identified the significant factors that are responsible for battery draining using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance).

Used “Design Expert” and “Minitab” analysis packages to analyze the collected data from the experiment and observed Nexus5 has better backup.

Synthesis and characterization of granite particle reinforced AA2024 Al composite . Jan 2013-May 2013

Al – granite (ALGG) composites were produced by stir casting with ground powder particles of variable sizes.

Increasing hardness and decreasing density of the composites is observed with decrease in the size the granite particles than the base alloy.

Enhanced mechanical properties were observed with decrease in the size of granite particles under compression. Microstructural Analysis is done to explain the changes in the properties.
