Sir or Madam,

I am seeking an opportunity to continue my personal and professional growth in a fast-paced and technologically innovative position. I recently finished my Master’s in Materials Science and Engineering at Virginia Tech; my Bachelor’s included a Green Engineering minor and an international research experience at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. My education has trained me to clearly define problems and generate creative solutions within the framework of standard engineering methodologies. Furthermore, I have a strong background in physics and statistics, along with substantial experience in experimental design and laboratory settings, as well as familiarity with many materials synthesis, processing, characterization, design and selection techniques.

I have a passion for science and technology and tend to solve problems with a first-principles approach; however, my well-roundedness and intrinsic motivation for excellence are what most set me apart from other candidates. My personal and professional history could be characterized by exceeding expectations and rising to leadership positions in athletic, academic, and professional roles. My robust technical expertise and leadership abilities are further complemented by a habit of constant self-improvement. I am always growing and learning. Simply put, my personal drive and optimistic personality allow me to effectively fulfill the duties of several roles in any organization – this makes me a valuable and dynamic team member and leader. I am an ambitious and enthusiastic problem-solver interested in opportunities that will engage me with stimulating challenges and a dynamic environment where I can develop further mastery of the engineering profession. I recognize the value of resourcefulness and interdisciplinary teamwork in generating creative solutions and am able to work independently while progressing towards a cohesive team goal. An interview to discuss the ways in which I could assist your organization in accomplishing its goals would be greatly appreciated. Please see my resume for further elaboration of my experience and skills. Also, please feel free to contact me directly at any time. Thank you for your consideration. Kind Regards,

Andrew Schultz
