Objective

My responsibilities are to come up with age appropriate activities for curriculum that include literacy, math, science and social studies.

Achievements:
Initiated a sense of community which brought together parents representing the multicultural nature of the community to discuss ways of contributing to a vibrant and respectful multicultural environment in the school.

Responsibilities:
Participated as an AmeriCorps member in an award-winning network of volunteers who provide individualized attention and positive adult-child relationships to prepare children attending preschool in low-income neighbourhoods for school success.
Implemented early-childhood curriculum, promoted children’s language and literacy skills through ongoing relationships with 18 preschool children and 2 partner children, supported family involvement, and increased adult support in the learning environment.
Collaborated with a team of 8 Corps members to plan twice weekly in-classroom activities for a class of 18 preschool children.
Received intensive training and professional development in early childhood theory and practice, language and literacy development, leadership skills, and communication with families.
Helped partner children learn the letters of their names and write their names independently.
