Senior Quality Assurance Analyst – business.westernunion.com

Responsible for leading onsite and offshore application testing activities for the Cross

Currency Transaction (CCT) platform. CCT is the engine used by Western Union Business Solutions to allow Government, Commercial and Education entities to send and receive payments around the world.

Daily responsibilities include hands-on test case development and execution using HP ALM Quality Center, reading and understanding all project requirements documents, daily conference calls with offshore QA team in India, participating in daily stand-up meetings, requirements meetings, maintaining project tasks, reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs) and giving regular status reports to the QA Manager. In addition, Mr. Hill's responsibilities include weekend test efforts to support the company’s regular releases and emergency fixes.

As a Senior Systems Analyst, Mr. Hill gathered business requirements for the client’s Mail Transport Equipment System (MTE). Requirements were captured in a Business Requirements Definition (BRD) document and uploaded to Sharepoint. As the BRD owner, was required to oversee versioning of the document and ensure the development team was working with the latest version.

Mr. Hill’s daily responsibilities included reading and understanding all project requirements documents, participating in weekly teleconferences, requirements meetings with the client, maintaining project tasks with MS Project, and giving weekly status reports to the Project Manager. Mr. Hill also executed functional test cases that validated the MTE functionality. Mr. Hill helped create simple SQL queries in MS Access to generate custom reports for the client.

Nextel Communications, Inc: (04/05-08/05) Sr. Data Analyst

As a Sr. Data Analyst, Mr. Hill successfully managed the day-to-day activities of the project. He created a daily schedule to manage the development of multiple custom financial reports. The schedule included a Level of Effort (LOE) for analysis, programming, testing and sign off.

Mr. Hill worked closely with the client to define financial reporting requirements. He created multiple custom financial reports in SQL*Plus and spooled the results to a text file. The report creation process was documented and delivered to the client. Mr. Hill also used MS Access to create a user-friendly interface for the client to execute a weekly macro that generates a matrix of pricing and costs by handset per month.

Nextel Communications, Inc: (01/05-03/05) Data Migration Analyst

As a Data Migration Analyst, Mr. Hill worked with the client’s Data Migration Project

Manager, Data Integrity Team and Data Analysts to migrate sales data from the Assigned Account Reference Tool (AART) to Salesforce.com. With a clear understanding of the client’s sales data hierarchy and using the client’s data import business rules as a guide, Mr. Hill helped create simple and complex SQL queries in MS Access to check for proper formatting, syntax errors, and logical data mapping. His daily responsibilities included executing macros, data exception handling, quickly resolving SQL query issues during the cleanup process or post-importing, and contributing to business rules review meetings. Mr. Hill authored two deliverables while on the project. He drafted a Data Cleansing Approach document, which is likely to be used by the client’s Data Migration Team as the standard for data cleansing going forward. He also created a Data Cleansing Process flow diagram as a step-by-step guide to the data cleansing process.

Nextel Communications, Inc: Partner Status Award System (08/04-11/04) Test Lead As the team lead, Mr. Hill managed two releases of the Partner Award Status System, which is a system used by Nextel to track customer awards from their various partners (for example, airline miles and hotel discounts). Mr. Hill’s daily lead responsibilities included reading and understanding all project requirements documents, attending weekly status meetings with the client, test script reviews, maintaining project schedules and team deadlines, and giving weekly status reports to the Test Manager. Mr. Hill gathered data in addition to creating, editing and executing functional test cases that validate the systems functionality

Nextel Communications, Inc: PeopleSoft Employee Help Line Representative (07/04 – 08/04)

Mr. Hill was a member of the help line support team, which supported the first release of an Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) application. The team consisted of four support representatives who addressed issues related to the carrier’s ELM module of its existing PeopleSoft platform. The help line provided employees with a central point of contact for ELM customer service. The team supported full functionality of the module ranging from browsing the training catalog and registering for classes to managers viewing their employees’ training history objectives and planned learning. Mr. Hill’s duties included answering employee calls, guiding users through the application, entering problem reports, working with internal teams to troubleshoot issues, reporting defects and tracking various reporting metrics.

Nextel Communications, Inc: Order Validation Application QA (4/03-5/04) Test Lead

Mr. Hill managed each release of the client’s four web service tools, which included (1) an order validation application, a system that validates orders (e.g. InPhonic or LetsTalk) that come from the client’s indirect web sales channel, (2) a credit review tool, a system which allows the client to always return a valid score to vendors, (3) an order tracking module, a system which allows users to query the order entry database for the status of orders residing in the client’s fulfillment and activations system, and (4) a fraud administration tool, which allows users create and modify fraud rules for orders that enter the order validation system.

Mr. Hill’s daily lead responsibilities included reading and understanding all project requirements documents, attending weekly status meetings with the client, test script reviews, maintaining project schedules and team deadlines, and giving weekly status reports to Sales Support Test Manager. Mr. Hill created, edited and executed test cases that validated the systems functionality. As part of the manual testing, he manipulated XML files that contain customer data and submits the file to the order validation application. He documented all defects and worked closely with the development team to resolve issues.

Mr. Hill created an order validation testing methodology document, which includes (but not limited to) such topics as Test Preparation, Test Execution, and Test Metrics & Reporting. The initial draft of the document was delivered to the Sales Support Test Manager for review. Upon completion, the document will be the foundation for testing new requirements delivered to the test team.

Nextel Communications, Inc: Fulfillment and Activations QA (4/01-3/03) Tester/Test Lead

Mr. Hill worked with business analysts and development team for functional, regression and ad hoc testing on the client’s backend fulfillment application. His daily responsibilities included writing test scripts for each release, defect reporting, attending Project Requirements Definition (PRD) walkthroughs and other requirements meetings. Mr. Hill played an integral role in the defect tracking process for the major and minor releases. He also attended daily tracker meetings with the client and worked with the client to resolve application specific issues. Mr. Hill played key role in transferring knowledge of the fulfillment application to the team lead and other members of the team. Also, Mr. Hill was responsible for giving daily progress reports to team lead for client review. Mr. Hill tested fulfillment system components for emergency production support fixes that needed to be deployed with a short turn around period.

On the technical side, Mr. Hill significantly increased his knowledge of the TOAD application and has used the advanced features of the tool to help him when executing SQL queries. Mr. Hill has also validated third-party connectivity with the fulfillment application by querying XML files, on a UNIX operating system, to verify that the correct XML is being sent to and received from the vendor. After a year on the project, Mr. Hill became the Team Lead. As team lead, Mr. Hill successfully lead two major releases and three point releases to completion. He took ownership of the overall delivery of each release and provided updates to the client at scheduled checkpoints, including weekly status reports and test execution metrics.

Nextel Communications, Inc: Performance Testing Project (9/02-10/02) Performance Test Engineer

Mr. Hill worked with business analysts and manual testers to gather data and identify the top four transactions on the client’s customer care system. He used that information to co-author a Test Strategy document and to determine the scope for performance testing of the system. Mr. Hill created detailed scripts using LoadRunner 7.5 and used these scripts to execute a 100-user performance test. Mr. Hill worked with another team member to compile the results and write the analysis, which was forwarded to the client. Mr. Hill also helped configure 12 Dell computers that were used for the performance testing and shipped them to 12 remote locations in the United States. He maintained contact with several of the point’s-of-contact until the machines were completely setup. Mr. Hill used the pcAnywhere software to connect to the remote machines and to verify that they were setup properly and could be used for performance testing.
