WORK HISTORY
Senior Mechanical Engineer, December 2001 to September 2016 Northwest Marine Technology – Anacortes, WA
Developed and Designed diverse devices and systems to enhance fishery management
"Automated Tagging System" for Atlantic Salmon in Norway, each unit capable of tagging 4800 fish per hour with 95% accuracy. Configurable unit was designed for customer’s volume requirement employing simple auto rotator
(rotating fish up right regardless entry orientation) and auto centering mechanism to achieve high speed and accuracy at competitive prices for aquaculture industry.
"Auto Fish Marking and Tagging System" for lake trout in Great Lakes area.
"Auto Fish Sizer" for measuring small fish as they pass through the device and tracking length data for each RFID tag.
“Adult Fish Counter” for hatchery to count returning adult fish as they swim through a gate.
“Fish counter” for counting live small fish at high speed for inventory control.
Provided technical engineering support and project management for the design, engineering and development of several automatic fish handling systems.
Provided manufacturing engineering and quality control.
Tested each completed design at hatchery using live production fish to maximize performance and minimize injury to fish.
As part of project team, designed "Salmon Vaccination System" for Atlantic Salmon, intraperitoneal injection system delivering precise amounts of vaccine to the abdominal cavity without injuring live fish at high speed.
Presided over all aspects of design and production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication and operation of product designs.
Managed design and manufacturing teams that built proprietary process equipment within cost and tight time constraints.
