Day Shift Supervisor (POY)
Active member of a management team responsible for 70 hourly, of which 13 were direct reports, and 10 salaried employees in the production of Partially Oriented Yarn.
Managed the corrugated tube warehouse and ensured proper supply, inspection, storage, use and disposal of corrugated tubes.
Managed the department cleaning room which utilized high pressure ethylene glycol baths, ultrasonic baths and drying ovens to clean and prepare for inspection equipment parts between runs.
Managed the department inspection room and ensured proper cleaning and tolerances of all equipment prior to assembly. Ensured proper supply of all continuous polymer filtration, spin beam and finish oil parts. Ensured proper assembly, storage and pretreatment of all continuous polymer filtration, spin beam and finish oil parts prior to instillation in the plant.
Supervised the removal and instillation of continuous polymer filtration, spin beam and finish oil parts both during process run as well as startup/shutdown.
Managed the department finish oil room and ensured proper supply, handling and delivery of the finish oil to the plant. Lead the planning and installation of a new drainage system in the finish oil room to increase the capacity of the finish oil room due to higher production volumes.
Wrote, implemented and maintained using MS Excel and Visual basic an inventory/production scheduling system to insure the proper supply of raw materials, assist in work assignment allocation, assist in job prioritization and to ensure equipment inspection and availability. Eliminated the need to change lots due to tube shortage.
Utilized AS-400 inventory and purchase system to purchase supplies and equipment for department.
