SOUTH EASTERN REGIONAL MANAGER

Buchi Corporation, Greensboro, NC February 2007 to April 2009.

Sold laboratory equipment sales into the Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, Food, Environmental, Industrial and governmental niches. Product line: solid automatic extraction systems, digestion systems, spray dryers, NIR spectrometers and high-pressure concentration units. Sold directly as well as managed manufacture representatives. I worked with the Switzerland NIR Group on large competitive sales issues. I accepted the opportunities in taking a starter territory and within nine months I took a non-productive territory of $30,000 and no pipeline to $1,100,000 million resulting in a 136% increase in total sales for the first year. Expanded NIR sales into Natural Products, biotech and food niches from less than one unit a year to a consistent producer of unit a month or more. Also increased spray dryers and extractions systems in the environmental and food niches by technical presentation and seminars. Established a key account in the pet food industry resulting in multiple systems (>12 sold)

MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

Bruker Optics Inc., Greensboro, NC April 1999 to January 2007.

Product line include a full line of FT Optical Spectroscopy Products; step scan, far infrared, Tera-Hertz spectrometer, table top NMR, FT Raman and Microscopes for IR and Raman and FPA. Involved in expanding FTNIR projects in North America. Initially it was not an active territory, which was performing at less than 200k total sales. Bruker was about sixth to eighth in FT Sales for North America. Bruker products in my tenure up to one of the market leaders through doing technical seminars, posters and development of focus sales tools such as power point and webinars for new markets. I was involved with helping the FTNIR staff create materials in Germany/North America on how to sell and beat the competitors. I increased FTNIR for the pharmaceutical market making Bruker the preferred instrumentation with such companies as Coca Cola, Eli Lily, Pfizer, GSK, Wyeth, and Merck. My efforts were successful by out selling the competition. Also I had similar increases for Raman sales and Optical Microscope systems. I had steady yearly increases in sales of 140% resulting in a very productive 2 million plus in sales it a year.

Martin Scientific Inc., Cincinnati, OH. April 1997 to April 1999.

IR accessories by Specac, FTIR and FTNIR by Mattson, Filter NIR by Perten, laboratory general equipment, RI instruments, balances, SPE. Consulted on Pharmaceutical on QA projects. I sold the most FTIR units for at on site of 10 in my first year. I also sold the most Specac ATR’s for North America wining the Golden Gate Award for 1998.

MARKETING MANAGER

Bran + Lubbe, Chicago, IL September 1996 to April 1997.

Re-organized the marketing for sales of filter NIR spectrometers for North America. Responsible for bringing a new 19 filter NIR to the North American Market. Marketing material for world distribution for all product lines. Works with all distribution channels as well as direct sales. Re established markets in the food, grain and agriculture niches. Key account manager for several major food companies such as Kraft and Purina. Focus was agricultural, food and grain industries for the training and support of the filter NIR products. Participated with US government regulatory agencies.

PRODUCT SPECIALIST

Perstorp Analytical Inc., Silver Springs, Maryland. January 1990 to September 1996.

Support all sales and applications for dispersive NIR at GMP/ 21CFR11 compliant manufacturing. I was used as the closer on large sales as to support the direct sales efforts. Presented nationally and internationally presentation on NIR. In conjunction with our Perstorp NIR sales team we created sales and support mechanism that developed Perstorp (NIRSystems now FOSS) to the market leaders. I was used as a sales closer on large orders such as Eli Lilly (7 systems). I help with yearly NIR meetings, which were multinational. I also interfaced with Key accounts such as Pfizer’s development group as needed to move orders along. Though our efforts and teamwork, we out produced in sales all other sales groups for the Pharma industry within Perstorp.

APPLICATION SUPPORT AND MANUFACTURING MANAGER

Lab Data Inc., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. April 1987 to December 1990.

Responsible for developing all training, sales tools, technical manuals for a muti tasking data acquit ion. Taught all salesmen and was used as a closer on large accounts. Could address 8 real time channels and have the ability to connect with PC LIMS. Supported PC LIMS software and hardware. Instrumentation could be used with HPLC, GC, GPC, AA, MS, UV-Vis, TMA, IR both dispersive and FT, any instrumentation with an analog out put. Also responsible for the manufacturing and assembly of units as well of oversight on software development.

SSI was a primary manufacture OEM of items for GC and HPLC instrumentation. Responsible for development of OEM sales and working with distribution channels such as Fisher Scientific.

ANALYTICAL RESEARCH CHEMIST

Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals Inc. Cincinnati, Ohio. November 1979 to July 1983 Responsible for the development of analytical methodologies on new drug substances. Provided internal and external written reports, participated in seminar, presentation as required by government and regulatory agencies in support of these new methodologies. Also served as a toxic waste officer responsible for monitoring usage, handling, removal and disposal of hazardous waste.

TEACHING FELLOWSHIP

Youngstown State University, Youngstown OH September 1977 to June 1979. Teaching duties including presentation, evaluations, and supervision of undergraduate students primarily in organic chemistry with minor duties in general chemistry. Research studies included the use of neutron activation and other radioactive monitoring techniques.
