oWorked with four colleagues to increase production line efficiency. Our project increased production by 15% from an average of 96 cabinets per 8-hour shift to over 110 cabinets per shift.

oAchieved goal by:

Focused on keeping assembly workers at stations longer to eliminate bottlenecks.

Improving the parts inventory system and the manner in which assembly workers acquired wood.

Manufacturing Systems II, Final Class Project, August – December 2013

oWorked with three colleagues to design an assembly line for a new jet airplane with 130 parts.

oAchieved goal by:

Creating times to add on each part based on the size of the part.

Creating a part precedence table that showed which parts had to be attached in which order.

Creating 4 different assembly lines with different max processing times for each station using Simio.

Deciding, after running multiple simulations, which assembly line was the most efficient based on lowest throughput time and highest labor utilization.
