Manager of Cost Control

Direct task delegation and performance management of 60 Cost Engineers and Specialists including providing home office and field cost control resources for all projects based out of Houston. Develop, manage, and update work instructions and training materials for cost control. Establish historical metrics and create and audit standard project reports. "Deep Dive" project audits identifying gaps between internal Quality Manager audits and Customer Satisfaction Surveys.

Achievements:

Turned around declining customer satisfaction scores and increased project workload by revising specific cost control work instructions for Change Management, forms, and flow charts, as well as conducting specific training for entire office on the mandated culture change of not proceeding on a scope change without prior client approval.

Cost and Schedule Engineer (Consulting Project)

Contracted to Praxair for project moving specialty gases production facility from one site in Ohio to another.

Achievements:

Successfully completed project on time and within budget employing Artemis Projectview and Costview for Earned Value management by taking reigns of cost and the schedule management, assisting with Purchasing valves, coordinating receiving of valves, and palletizing for shipment, as well as introducing Praxair to Interactive Planning (IAP) for interactive development of project schedules.

GLAXO SMITHKLINE, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina 06/1991 – 08/2004

Manager of Cost Control and Project Management Office

Oversaw Project Management Office managing plant site fiscal Capital budget of $100M and delivering key contributions to projects valued up to $20M. Provided planning, budgeting, cost control, change control, scheduling, and forecasting, as well as collaborating with purchasing, and expediting support for individual capital projects from preconstruction through start-up and validation.

Achievements:

Garnered promotion to Manager of PMO and PCM for all project controls services at plant site effectively providing project controls support to 20 Project Managers, facilitating delivery of benefits of plant site capital projects up to $20M. Previously managed a project controls staff of 15 at the R&D site for projects up to $125M

Streamlined activities and interactions between PMO, Project Controls, and Finance by refining the capital planning process thereby reducing capital budget by $8M as a result of training as Greenbelt, providing process improvements within Project Controls and PMO.

Facilitated consistent project reporting including change management and forecasting by developing comprehensive cost control system in Lotus, converting it to Excel, then pairing with IT consultant to convert system to a database application utilizing Oracle.

Assisted in the installation of SAP across 26 countries, on-time and within budget, by participating as one of 26 worldwide Schedulers working within Primavera on T-1 line supporting global schedule.
