Gas Train at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery EPC detailed stage development, Al-Ahmadi, Kuwait
Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s a new 5th Gas Train (GT 5) at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery to process future gas production in Kuwait. This Gas Train will supplement the gas processing capability provided by the planned Gas Train 4, which will have a capacity of 805 MMSCFD gas and 106 MBPD of liquids and the existing Gas Trains 1, 2 and 3, which each have a processing capacity of 505 MMSCFD of gas and 40 MBPD of liquid.
The design of the NGL section is based on the GSP (Gas Sub-cooled Process), which is a Turbo Expander, based cryogenic technology. The GSP was selected among 4 candidate processes, which are two open-art and two licensed processes, i.e. GSP (Open Art), OHR (Over Head Recycle, Open Art), SFR (Split Flow Reflux, Licensed by Ortloff), and the CRR (Cold Residue Recycle, Licensed by Ortloff).
This plant capacity is designed to process 805 MMSCFD of Feed Gas and 106.3 MBPD of external Condensate in addition to the Condensate produced in the NGL Recovery Section of the process. Product Recoveries of at least 75% C2, 97% C3 and 99% C4 are expected.
