Oversee all construction, maintenance, power & water generation, waste water treatment and disposal, communication facilities, and the safety of all persons on station at Palmer Station, Antarctica. A Scientific Research Base for the United States Antarctic Program & National Science Foundation.
Responsibilities
Supervise all construction, maintenance, power & water generation, waste water treatment and disposal
Responsible for reconfiguration of all buildings including the interiors to conform to the needed space, (scientific, laboratory, living spaces, production, “Tenant Improvement”)
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
Generate Daily/Weekly/Monthly Work orders for up to 100 employees/contract workers
Scheduling of projects and work crews
Present and lead the daily and weekly safety meeting.
Order all needed materials and supplies
Calculate resource usage and delivery times based on multi-country delivery supply chain.

Floating dock construction completed 60 days ahead of schedule & $150,000 under budget … this project was featured in the National Science Foundation Newsletter.
Developed a new seawater intake flow system which eliminated the emergency shut downs of the system which were common.
I started a “Station Saver Award” for most outstanding Staff member of the month … Huge emotional boost for entire staff.
2001-20112 “Charco Construction” Senior Superintendent
Responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of construction and sales for residential and commercial construction. The position required computer skills working with Windows, Excel, Word, Act, Access, Ontarget Scheduling and other computer programs. In addition oversaw all aspects of construction for many projects simultaneously including pre-site and on-site supervision of numerous employees and sub-contractors. Also a high degree of blue print reading, understanding and modification was required. Contract negotiation, sub-contractor, material selections and on site project management, change orders and working directing with the owners of the various projects.
1998-2001 Kull Construction Superintendent
Responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of commercial concrete tilt-up construction and tenant improvement. Also all pre-construction planning, contract negotiations, sub-contractor and material selections. Worked directly with new owner of projects for change orders and post construction build outs. Other skills and responsibilities required were computer proficiency working with Windows, Excel, Word, Act, Access, Ontarget Scheduling and other computer programs. Multiple projects being managed simultaneously.
1996-1998 “ASA” Construction Coordinator Engineering Dept., Antarctica / Denver, CO.
Construction and Maintenance Coordinator for the Black Island Telecommunications Facility and for McMurdo Station Construction and Maintenance.
Responsibilities included managing and maintaining all functions of construction and maintenance of the Black
Island Telecommunications Facility and overseeing Special Construction Projects at McMurdo Station.
Palmer Station Antarctica Construction and Maintenance Coordinator. Responsibilities included all aspects of Station construction and maintenance including water and power production. In addition supervised the re-supply of the station
maintenance and construction supplies.
As Construction and Maintenance Supervisor other responsibilities included establishing the budgets, manpower requirements, material estimates and ordering of supplies. Also logistics, on-site supervision, project design and creation and implementation of a preventive maintenance plan. Other responsibilities included reporting and updating the National Science Foundation, (NSF), representatives regarding project progress and presenting any available planning options.
In addition supervised the first response hazardous spill teams, asbestos abatement and the search and rescue teams. Left company when ASA’s contract was complete with the NSF.
