YAMANA GOLD 2007- 2017

Director IT Operations, Toronto, ON, Canada 2014 - 2017 Reporting directly to the IT VP with responsibility for Global IT 24/7 operations. Provided oversite of a team of 43 IT professionals, supporting over 3500 users globally and managing an annual operating budget of 3.2 Million. Responsible for directing the long term strategic plan of the IT Operations group in collaboration with the senior IT management team, to meet company’s business vision and goals. Responsible for managing and supporting the business plans, define the strategic long term roadmap, create contingency plans, ensuring that the delivery of all products and services meet performance criteria based on the established IT metrics and ensuring readiness for the technology needs of new mining operations.

Lead a talent strategy by assessing and evaluating the skill sets and geographic diversity of those skills within the IT department for resource planning. Ensured all regional teams possessed the required skills to support all regional mine site operations.

Develop and standardized effective global IT operational processes, policies and procedures in cooperation with senior IT management for the global IT department that help provide conformity, consistency and effective collaboration between the IT staff members throughout all the Yamana Gold locations. These efforts led to centralization of many processes and outsourcing where appropriate resulting in enhanced efficiencies and cost saving.

Worked closely with the VP, Information Technology to develop strategies, operational plans and budgets for both IT OPEX and projects (CAPEX) focused at achieving the business vision and goals, including the re negotiation of all major Vendor contracts resulting in saving of up to 45 % on Yamana contracts.

Developed and maintained an effective and efficient Global Service Desk following the Service Management support methodology. Implemented new processes for this service support that reduced incident rates in 25% and enabled the outsourcing of this services support function reducing costs in 20%.

Provided oversite for 45 IT professionals (Operations, Infrastructure, Automation, and PMO), Users: 2100 and responsible for an annual IT budget of 1.8 Million. Responsible for the Regional IT strategy creation and the implementation with Corporate and local leaders.

Implementation of Communications, Systems, Automation and Infrastructure for 3 new mines. The average investment in IT for was 1.8 MUSD per mine (1.5% to 2% of Total CAPEX) and all programs were delivered on time and on budget.

Developed the concept, design, and Implementation of the Regional NOC (Network operations Centre) and successfully reproduced this concept for the Toronto Head office.

Concept, Design, and Implementation SHELTER project “High Availability mobile and portable Data Center solution for mining operations”

Implementation of MPLS network from Corporate Office to Mine sites and other regional offices which resulted in improved communication performance across the network increasing response time in 50% and speed in average of 35%.

Successfully implemented Devex Dispatch System for two locations (Pilar and JMC mines) and other mine automation systems including MES, PIMS, Fuel Control System, Ventilation Systems, etc. resulting in substantial cost reductions and optimization.

Designed and implemented the Avaya IP telephony and a Microsoft UC integrated with video conferencing systems for System for Brazil with more than 2300 extensions for 2100 users resulting in 35% phone cost reductions. IT Superintendent, San Juan, Argentina 2007-2011

Reporting to Global CIO and locally to the Argentina Country Manager with responsibility over Regional Office and 2 mines in Argentina with an operating budget of 1 Million annually. Supervised a team of 9 IT professionals and provided support to 600 end users.

Successfully implemented SOX Controls improving results from 20 % compliance to 100% Compliance (Internally and externally audited) in one year.

Business Applications Coordinator, Santa Cruz, Argentina 2003– 2005 Reporting to IT Manager primary duties included successfully implementing Mincom Ellipse ERP (enterprise Resource Planning). After the ERP implementation my main activities were to sustain the ERP and other Business applications. Infrastructure Supervisor, Santa Cruz, Argentina 1999 – 2003 Responsible for 20 Windows Servers, 2 UNIX servers, 300 Telephone extensions, 2 datacenters and 2 offices.
