Assisted an 86 year old couple with their day-to-day living and health needs. Husband was dying of bladder cancer, and wife was a dementia patient diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Took both patients to their daily appointments to meet with their physicians, and took both patients to their daily or weekly chemotherapy or laboratory appointments. Assisted the couple in packing up their belongings in their Falls Church, Virginia home; assisted couple with their move to a retirement home in Virginia Beach, Virginia; arranged professional movers to move the couple’s belongings to St. Louis, Missouri, personally transported the couple to St. Louis, Missouri in March of 2012. Arranged for Hospice care when husband informed me he was ready to stop cancer treatments, managed all of the couple’s medical treatments, consulted with physicians, and communicated updates to family that lived on the East Coast and in the Mid-West. Updated medical powers-of-attorney to ensure that all treatment decisions were made in accordance with the patient's advance directives. Hired the live-in domestic staff, supervised and assisted domestic staff. Managed all changes to Medicare, Social Security, and supplemental health insurance companies when couple moved from Virginia to Missouri; updated funeral services and prepaid insurance policies with funeral director; ordered, picked up, or purchased all medications, personal care items, groceries, and mail. Helped husband keep track of monthly bill payments and bank accounts until his death.

Manage the real and personal property and cash assets in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri in order that the Trust continues to provide for the health maintenance and ongoing support of the primary beneficiary, as well as provide financial support for the alternate beneficiaries throughout their secondary education. Extinguished all debts with secured lenders, settled all outstanding debts with unsecured lenders at approximately $.40 on the dollar, extinguished all liabilities with the Internal Revenue Service, wound up and dissolved the deceased’s business, disposed of the deceased’s primary residence, acquired a new residence for the deceased’s spouse. Negotiated a premium, top dollar timber sale contract on 152 acres of land owned by the Trust, managed timber harvest ensuring that only the agreed upon hardwood and softwood stands were felled, restored approximately 15 acres of pasture land following the timber sale, began restoring agricultural fencing to property boarders and pastures in preparation for a cattle/pasture lease. Arranged for an appraisal of land and began negotiating with neighboring property owners to share in the cost of a full stake survey along border land. Organize annual financial records for Trust’s auditor, and work with auditor to ensure distributions to beneficiaries are made in a tax advantageous manner.
