Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, September 2016 to present

Perform instrumentation and electrical design for the Uranium Process Facility. Requires extensive use of robots, servos, and VFDs. Responsible for mentoring junior engineers and supervising their design activities.

GE Power/Alstom Power Environment Control Services – Knoxville, TN

Principal Engineer, 2000 to August 2016

Discipline Lead Engineer for the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Requirements of Environmental Control Systems for coal burning power stations.

Spearheaded schedule recovery, as well as enhanced the project team’s technical capabilities for the design of an advanced control system in Beijing, China. Recovery of the project schedule was completed with an additional two weeks of float. Performed the following to achieve schedule recovery:

oRescheduled the delivery of design documents to enable early start of system configuration.

oNegotiated owner acceptance of standard function blocks reducing overall scope of work.

oCreated a restructuring plan for reallocation of resources that was adopted by project management.

Developed the instrumentation and control for a new Wastewater Treatment Process by evaporation of water and capture of waste solids. Proposed and incorporated three cost savings to the original conceptual design that reduced the cost of the project by approximately $110,000.

Developed the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control for new technology to capture CO2 emissions from a coal-fired power station. Performed all the required engineering from conceptual design, through construction and commissioning including performance testing.

Co-authored Patent Number 8181451 “Method of Controlling the Operation of a Selective Catalyst Reduction Plant”.

Developed standardized design for the use of anhydrous ammonia for Selective Catalyst Reduction for coal-fired power stations that allowed expediting design saving two months off the typical project schedule. In addition created the design for injection of anhydrous ammonia in the CO2 Capture pilot plant.
