May 2016 – Present – Director of Quality – Com-Corp Industries – Cleveland, OH – producer of metal stamped products to the automotive sector. CCI also has in-house powder-coating and decorative chrome plating capabilities with stringent “A” surface visual criteria.

Implemented a new APQP process. Existing process had many “gaps” resulting in missed deliverables.

Developed and implemented an LPA (layered Process Audit) process to involve all levels of the organization in the improvement of the system/ process on the production floor.

Developed and implemented a new standardized process for the pack & sort area to improve flow, reduce product mixtures and improve the effectiveness of the visual inspection process.

Developed effective process controls through designed experiments for numerous processes such as roll forming and welding to address high scrap issues internally and customer concerns.

In the process of conversion from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.

July 2015 – May 2016 – Contract - Quality Manager – Quality Synthetic Rubber – Twinsburg, OH – Accepted a newly created contract position at a local injection molded products supplier to the automotive sector. Quality Manager duties were performed by the Corporate V.P of Quality working on launch of new international plant. My role is to lead system improvements & development. Minimum contract term is January 2016, though position is currently ongoing.

Established a new product “Safe Launch” (APQP & new process validation) process due to numerous launch issues.

Developed improved process for the “quality control audits” (line audits, final audit, containment audits, box audits) that will allow for effective auditor performance feedback (positive and negative) as well as modifications to the audit process, new customer issues,, etc...

Established an A3 (high level problem analysis tool)process to look at systemic quality issues/ develop actions plans.

Past 4 months we have had 1 customer complaint from our 2 key customers. Historically, QSR has had an average of 8 – 10 per month from these 2 customers alone. Accomplished this with the implementation of a true root cause/ corrective process and training/ development of CAR champions to effectively solve problems.

CS-2 (outside customer required sort) has decreased from over 50 part numbers by 65% in first 6 months with organization, with more improvements to follow.

2014 – July 2015 – Senior Quality Manager – CCL Design – Strongsville OH – Lead quality initiatives in 3 locations

(Strongsville, Brunswick and Cleveland facilities). Brought in to improve the processes and reduce numerous customer quality and internal quality problems that were being experienced. Proven leadership to 15 employee department spread out over our three facilities in Ohio. I Left this position due to concerns with longevity of Ohio facilities and lack of personal challenge.

Implemented a more effective root cause/ problem solving procedure that was instrumental in reducing the “average” number of customer NCMs from approximately 25 per month to less than half within a 4 month time frame.

Scorecards of key and OEM customers went to “green” for the first time in years through the shifting and training of customer quality staff.

Implemented a staff of Quality Technician on 3 shifts and more effective process controls.

Instrumental in the development and improvement of numerous quality system processes (training, document control, process control, supplier quality, etc

Development of “cell concept” and related process controls/ stage gates for better control of product quality.

Oversight of the TS 16949 and ISO 14001 systems. 2012 – 2013 – Director of Quality – J.B. Stamping Inc. – Cleveland, OH – “Short Run” manufacturing company specializing in metal stamping, assembly and laser products to the lawn care, automotive, military and incubation industries.. Reported to the President/ Owner. Brought on to take the company’s quality system and processes to ISO 9000 certification. In the short period of time that I have been with J.B. Stamping, Implemented “Operator based” inspection, internal audits, a formal E.C.R/ E.C.N process, formal employee training and approximately 70 PPAP submissions on new launches. In late 2013 the position was eliminated due to a business slow-down. 2008- 2012 – Quality Manager – Talan Products Inc. – Cleveland, OH – Contract metal stamping and assembly products manufacturer providing products to the automotive, roofing/ construction and solar power industries. Reported to the President. Recruited to take the company’s certified ISO 9000 based quality system to the “next level”. I Managed a two shift, 4 member quality department. Provided leadership and training for the Lean program and improvement projects. Implemented a fully functional “Process/ Objective based QMS” from a “silo/ procedure” based QMS. Lead the QMS transition from the ISO 9001: 2000 QMS to ISO 9001: 2008 and was acting Management QMS representative. Achieved zero (0) audit findings for all 3 years I was with the company.

Implemented a simple yet effective Vendor performance Monitoring/ Improvement program that was instrumental in reducing the “total” supplier PPM from approximately 13,000 to under 1500 PPM within a 24 month time frame. Supplier delivery also improved from approximately 80% to just over 96% within the same time frame.

Helped developed and implement the company’s lean manufacturing program including a successful 5S program.

As a result of a scrap reduction/ process improvement initiative, internal scrap costs dropped by almost 67% from

$12000per month to roughly $4000 per month.

Developed and implemented a multi-step, formal, disciplined Product Quality planning (APQP) planning process. A QMS process metric was developed to compare the planned (quoted costs/ rates) to the actual as a measure of effectiveness. Mark Netzel Resume Page 3

2004- 2008 – Business Unit Quality Engineer – Porter Engineered Systems – Solon, OH – Contract manufacturer of assemblies and metal fabricated products for the automotive industry. Reported to the Quality Manager. Plant was closed and moved to Mexico.

Personally oversaw and managed all quality related aspects and prototype builds for two (2) major automotive platform new product launches. Spent nearly 1 year at the Novi, MI Corporate Tech. Center overseeing the early product development, assembly line design and was the designated person to bring the line back to the Ohio plant for implementation.

Achieved an external PPM of under two (2) for the GMT 900 Latch and approximately ten(10) PPM on a Chrysler Sebring Convertible top mechanism.

At the end of my tenure (before the plant closed) I was also serving a dual role of Continuous Improvement Manager to teach and oversee Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement for several teams. 2001- 2004 – Quality Engineer – Atlantic Tool & Die – Strongsville, OH – Contract manufacturer of assemblies and metal stamped products for the automotive industry. Reported to the Corporate Quality Manager. I was responsible for the successful launch and all APQP/ PPAP activities for the “Safety Products” (Airbags, Seatbelt Retractor Frames, etc Responsibilities also included a major role in the TS 16969 transition from QS 9000 and served as Lead Internal Auditor.

Provided Launch assistance to the other facilities (Texas, Alabama, Medina) to ensure an effective launch and production process.

1998 - 2001 – Senior Quality Engineer – Die-Matic Corporation – Broadview Hts, OH – Contract manufacturer of assemblies and metal stamped products for the automotive, and mining industries. Reported to the Quality Director. Left position due to a slowdown/ reduction in hours.

Personally oversaw and managed all Customer and supplier issues (corrective actions, communications, etc as well as serving as Lead Internal Auditor. I also served as the Continuous Improvement Program Lead and developed a successful Team based Continuous Improvement Program from scratch.

Achieved savings of nearly $100,000 in the initial year of the C.I program launch.

Fully implemented, managed and oversaw the Internal Audit Program. I also developed, selected and trained the Internal Auditor staff.

1995 - 1998 – Final position – Quality Manager – AJ Rose Manufacturing – Cleveland and Avon, Ohio plants – Contract manufacturer of assemblies, metal spun products and metal stamped products for the automotive, and Truck/ Tractor industries. Reported to the President in my final role as QA Manager. I started at AJ Rose as a Quality Engineer and saw steady promotions based on my performance to Quality Supervisor and finally Quality Assurance Manager over the Cleveland facility. In my time at AJ Rose I was responsible for many areas in my roles including APQP/ PPAP/ Supervision of up to ten (10) staff members.

Co-Lead on QS 9000 certification project.

Fully implemented, managed and oversaw the Internal Audit Program for both the Cleveland and Avon facilities. 1987 - 1995 – Quality Engineer – Dickey Grabler Company – Cleveland, Ohio – Contract manufacturer of assemblies, and metal stamped products for the automotive, and other smaller misc. industries. Reported to the Quality Manager in my final role as Quality Engineer. I started at The Dickey Grabler Company in the manufacturing floor areas (assembly, stamping and OBI press operator, lift truck operator) and eventually moved into the QA Department as a Quality Engineer. At the end of my tenure at D.G I was responsible for vendor performance, customer and supplier corrective actions, Lead Internal Auditor and all activities pertaining to APQP/ PPAP.

Developed entire Supplier Program including supplier quality manual, supplier ratings process, quarterly supplier conferences and supplier approval process)
