Education & Certification
Master of Engineering in Advanced Manufacturing and Design
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, Anticipated 2017
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Graduated with Honors
Iowa State University of Science and Technology, Ames, IA, Cum Laude, GPA: 3.59/4.0, 2016
Internships
BRAINCO INC. Somerville, Massachusetts 2016
A fast-moving startup incubated from the Harvard Innovation Lab and raised $5.5 million, developing A "mind control" robotic hand effectively with a range of possible applications.
Manufacturing Engineering Winter Intern
Utilized SolidWorks to reduced more than 20% operation time by optimizing mechanical design through design for manufacturing.
Reduced more than 15% cycle time by designing action-efficient processes for manufacturing and assembling products in large quantity.
HONGYUAN PRECISION CASTINGS CO., LTD., Luoyang, China 2015, 2016
Casting and Machining Manufacturer exporting products to Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa, Germany, Japan, United States and Western Hemisphere, with General Electric as one large client.
Process Engineering Intern
Collaborated with Executive Management to evaluate production requirements, technical and human resource support and negotiate tractor-production subcontract with largest Asian bus manufacturer valued at $30 Million, resulting in corporation expanding engineering processes offered.
Utilized SolidWorks for theoretical proof and calculations to design best solution for automatic cooling conveyor that analyzed vortex air flow and optimized energy consumption, as part of bigger machine that automatically heated and cooled temperature-sensitive ceramic shells, with design recommendation ultimately implemented.
Created design using SolidWorks to facilitate manufacture of conveyor, saving corporation $160k per machine in manufacturing costs, $26k in electricity costs annually and $20k in labor costs, also resulting in 3x production rate increase.
Conducted control-variate experiments, analyzed production data, detected root cause, and re-evaluated machine design to diagnose chronic problems of wax injection equipment; designed solution that led to better surface finish, less porosity, greater strength of stainless steel products, lower rework rate, lower machine down time, higher production rate, product quality and performance, and customer satisfaction.
Solution decreased machine down time from 20 to 5 days annually, saving labor and tool cost of approximately $6,000 per year.
Solution increased customer satisfaction resulting in $0.3 million additional sales to annual corporate revenue of $11 million.
