Human Resources & Safety Manager

Responsible for day-to-day human resources and safety management, interpretation of policies, procedures and programs related to employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee/labor relations. This position will also drive the organizational development process, serve as an employee advocate, manage employee relations and communications, and ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements within the function.

Compiles, prepares and distributes Employee Handbook which includes plant specific programs, such as Attendance, Drug and Alcohol Policy, Plant Rules and Regulations, Accident Reporting, etc.

Annually reviews all facility specific policies and programs to assure compliance with any governmental and Atlas Roofing requirements.

Pre-screen and interview all new and prospective employees to assure the best person is put in the open position.

Perform new employee orientation and on-boarding for new employees (hourly and salary).

Maintain and control employment records.

Assist Plant Manager and department heads in maintaining day-to-day union management relationships to improve morale and assist management in carrying out leadership responsibilities.

Respond to unemployment claims, union grievances and any federal and state agencies dealing with employee matters.

Prepare for and assist in labor arbitrations and labor negotiations.

Work with Department Managers to determine and identify plant training needs.

Investigate various training options and set up training schedules as required.
