Group Leader, M-Tek Inc. (Manchester, TN)
My career at M-Tek has been completely focused in the department of Injection Molding. I started off as an operator producing interior automobile parts (for Nissan, Honda, and Volkswagen) which included color changes, processing and assembling while also performing hourly tracking to record total production, variances with hourly targets, scrap and downtime. The end of the shift required nightly production reports to reflect the accumulation of the hourly tracking records which were then turned into administration. After three months as a machine operator I was promoted to Lead Technician. This job included performing die changes (850 to 3000 ton machines with 500 lbs. to 30 ton dies), processing defects that were both through physical modification (removing burrs, plastic, cleaning, etc.) to the die and also processing through the machines program (adjusting temperatures, velocities, tonnage, etc.). This position mandated an unrelenting cogitation both inside and outside of work that included research and studying in regards to the field of injection molding. This position was by far the most physically demanding. Nine months after my promotion to Lead Technician I was then given the opportunity to move up as Group Leader. This position is comprised of overseeing daily production (reports included) and scheduling, training and educating employees (with a range from four to eight machines as well as six to fifteen employees) while managing interpersonal relationships and scheduling maintenance/ tooling concerns. Special attention is given to O.E.E (Overall Equipment Efficiency) and the duties that revolve around improving these numbers with floor efficiency. – Supervisor – Marisa Welch
Maintenance Technician, Mann-Hummel (Dunlap, TN)

Injection Molding is a prominent focus with this position which also demands die changes, processing and introducing new programs for machine setup/study.
