Led teams to obtain ISO, AEC, and QS certifications, and implemented corporate SPC controls for relevant processes. Served as adjunct member of new product/process teams and mentored engineers in career growth.Oversaw outsourced PCB manufacturing of a few thousand boards per month.

Directed team in examining field returns and QA rejects to determine and implement root cause solutions. Efforts resulted in achieving lowest failure rates in field of all major competitors to less than 50 ppm.

Determined group composite, doubling staff size to reduce time to report for all external failure analysis requests. Realized a decrease in customer quality reject rates and an increase in customer satisfaction.

Product / Test Engineering Manager (05/1986 - 08/1988)

Oversaw production of $175M EPROM product line, with P&L responsibility, and $10M budget in three factories in three countries. Implemented new products and technologies for cost reduction and feature enhancement. Reviewed probe and final test yields, and analyzed lower than expected results. Worked extensively on replacing ceramic product line with plastic.

Accomplishments:

Converted line from Ceramic encapsulated re-programmable EPROM products to a lower cost plastic single program product. Efforts resulted in changing line from a major money loser to a profitable line, and established the EPROM as a manufacturable core for the microcontroller line.

Developed and implemented several new full array stress tests that significantly improved programming yields, enabling parts to be encapsulated in plastic and become profitable.

Worked on development/stableizatioin of four micron silicon gate process. Worked on development of three micron process. Worked on Silicide development and solved problem of Silicide peeling. Applied for two process related patents while there. Studied photolithography and etch while in the role.
