WORK EXPERIENCE

Visiting Research Fellow

HFMI - Hoboken, NJ

Responsibilities

Coordinate projects between HFMI and external collaborators, demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in proactively

identifying and proposing solutions to issues that may arise during the course of a research project and provided research

support and guided graduate students in the research projects. Principal Engineer

Pepsico - Valhalla, NY - 2009 to 2013

Managed research within the beverage group supporting the work of PepsiCo's Advanced Research team, planed and

executed internal and external research to develop technologies to fuel the Operating Divisions' innovation and productivity

programs.

Performed a technology scan that yielded a number of suitable technologies which will assist in increasing the

utilization of the current assets.

Performed a technology scan that supported the layout of any future plant design.

Handled production of materials and performed strategies leading to more environmentally-sustainable products.

Assume a radar function by observing and evaluating green Processes with minimal footprint and minimal environmental impact.

Identified and selected bio-derived materials in the development of packaging material.

Provided support to engineering and manufacturing teams that are considering changes to design/process to

evaluate impact on sustainability.

Staff Process Engineer

Hess Corp - 2007 to 2009

Managed all aspects of the process simulation and molding. Modeled and analyzed fuel blending, yield accounting system and FCC Unit to assure maximum efficiency of operations and anticipate operational issue.

• Created Aspen Advisor mass model for the entire refinery (65,000 BPD), which monitored and improved processes through data reconciliation system, identifying product loss and providing decision-makers with critical production data information for overall operations facilitating a 2.3% profitability increase in 2008.

• Improved Aspen Advisor Volume model providing data for resolving discrepancies and allowing for accurate yield accounting to determine profitable of products and improve production scheduling on an daily basis for a monthly accounting balance, and the online performance monitoring allows users to rapidly identify yield degradation due to incorrect operating parameters. Research Assistant

Biochemical Engineering Design Research Laboratory - Hoboken, NJ - 2002 to 2008 Dissertation Title: Measurement of Optimal Yeast Cell Loading for Ethanol Production. Design and conduct experiments to predict optimal cell loadings for Ethanol Production in Packed bed Reactors that maximize total reaction rate in immobilized cell biocatalyst. Collected data for the development of yeast- catalyzed reaction process and conducted viability tests, cell density tests, and activated yeast cells.

• Developed a mathematical model to represent the optimal behavior without a sophisticated numerical integration algorithm. Model includes external mass transfer and reliable diffusion model and was able to match the experimental data accurately.

Application Systems Engineer

Hess Corp. - Woodbridge, NJ - 2006 to 2007

Implemented the engineering applications into production. Assisted with the development of process models. Designed and implemented custom interfaces to retrieve and validate real-time plant data and inferential data for several multivariable control projects.

• Provided refinery process control support for Honeywell Experion PKS control system including graphics developing and upgrading Honeywell process control displays saving $100K in 2007.

• Added the new Hydrogen unit and LSG unit to the Aspen Advisor Volume model and update and deploy the model to represent the current plant operating conditions saving $65K.

• Built Excel interface for Aspen-FCC and Haverly LP model reducing daily retrieval from 90 minutes to 45 seconds.

Engineering Intern

Hess Corp. - Woodbridge, NJ - 2005 to 2006

Facilitated development of process models and requirements for refinery operational initiatives. Designed implementation plans and schedules for projects and assisted in development of operator training manuals for process control system.
