SUMMARY

Toxicologist trained extensively in molecular biology and animal models for discovery of novel therapeutics. My doctoral studies included discovery, characterization and proof-of-concept animal testing of novel small molecules that functionally convert anti-death Bcl-2 protein to pro-death protein inducing cancer cell death. My work also involved discovery of small molecules that act as immune-suppressant by activating Aryl Hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). Initially trained as a Chemical Engineer in my B.S. degree, I bring all the quantitative expertise along with computation skills in solving scientific problems. I have also demonstrated my computer skills while working as clinical programmer at Accenture, India. I am good at managing multiple projects, a team player, adaptable to changes and with excellent communication skills.

POSITIONS AND EXPERIENCE

? Graduate Research Assistant at Cancer Research Lab, Environmental and Molecular Toxicology, Oregon State University. (Sep 2008-present); Advisor: Dr. Siva Kumar Kolluri

Discovered small molecule functional convertors of Bcl-2 protein that convert them to killers of cancer cells.

Discovered novel small molecules that activate Aryl Hydrocabon receptor (AhR) to induce cell death in cancer cells and those that cause immune suppression by induction of Treg cells.

Performed primary and metastatic models (lung and bone) of human breast cancer in mice.

Experience in developing small molecule formulations for oral and intraperitoneal dosing in animal studies along with toxicity testing.

Well trained in data analysis using command line programming (UNIX), R, analysis of large scale data for RNA-Seq experiments.

Independently developed and tested new hypothesis along with establishing collaborations across departments. Contributed data that led to over $1.8 million in grant funding.

Mentored and trained undergraduate research and new graduate students in molecular biology and animal handling techniques.

My research contributed to 4 peer-reviewed publications so far with 3 more (first author) in preparation and 12 presentations at national and regional conferences.

? Graduate Research Assistant (PhD program) at Environmental Systems Lab, Dept., of Environmental Engineering, Texas A&M University, Kingsville. (Jan 2008 - Jun 2008); Advisor: Dr.Venkatesh Uddameri

Worked on Modeling of nitrogen species in arroyo Colorado river.

Mentored Undergraduate and Masters Student in sample collection and analysis to collect parameters for further modeling.

? Database Designer and Reports Programmer in Global Clinical Discovery team at Accenture Services Ltd., India. (Feb 2007- Nov 2007); Client: Bristol-Myers Squibb

Database designing using Oracle Clinical and reports programing using I-Review (SQL). Good knowledge of clinical data management work flow.

Successfully performed the knowledge transfer from client site and continued to work in team located in 3 different countries and directly reported to the client.

? Masters Thesis at Centre for Environment, JNT University, Hyderabad, India. (Feb 2005 - Mar 2006); Advisor: Dr. Y.Anjaneyulu

Thesis on ?Uptake of heavy metals by the fresh water murrel Channa punctatus in the eutrophic lake Hussainsagar, Hyderabad, India?.

My work involved collecting water, sediment and fish samples from the lake and preparing samples for analysis by ICP spectroscopy for detection of heavy metals.

? Executive-Marketing (Industrial) at Surekha Industrial Marketing Associates (SIMA) Hyderabad, India. (August 2002-July 2003)

My role involved meeting maintenance managers/Leads at pharmaceutical companies in the state and convince them how more expensive synthetic and food grade lubricants (Sentinel Lubricants, USA) can save them money and man hours.

Worked with technicians and client operations team to ensure compliance in product usage and performance.

? Under-graduate summer project at HBL NIFE Power Systems Ltd., India. (Summer 2001). ?Analysis of Carbonates in manufacture of Ni-Cd sintered plate aviation batteries.
