Received three (4) Boeing Accomplishment Awards for the successful management of two (2) Fujitsu Macroscope software engineering web site implementations on time and within budget and leading the program team in its achievement of SW-CMM Level 2 certification.

Led the design of the All Tools site and the Retirement Process site for AD&S (with input from Finance Group)

Received high praise for implementing a new metrics program as part of the process improvement efforts.

Single-handedly wrote all new Macroscope team processes and procedures.

Managed a successful software process improvement and SQA program for an IBM/State of Washington mainframe organization of 150 personnel in the state capital. The program reduced production maintenance mainframe failures by 90% and introduced a much higher level of defect/error correction and prevention than that organization had ever experienced.

Led a team of twelve nuclear calibration subject matter experts (SMEs) in successfully re-engineering Ontario Power Generation, Nuclear’s tool and equipment calibration process. The result was a 100-page document that details a set of process diagrams, descriptions, specifications and implementation recommendations. Used Micrografix Flowcharter 7.0 to produce process data flow diagrams. This nuclear calibration process improvement team’s recommendations raised this neglected area to a new level of management visibility and concern. Functioned as defacto project manager for calibration process improvement and IT specification development. The president of MetaPower and the senior calibration engineer publicly praised my leadership ability.

Wrote a groundbreaking Process Redesign Group Facilitation training package based on my experiences at Ontario Power Generation, Boeing, OAO Corp. and the U.S. Marine Corps that Metapower has adopted as part of its formal training syllabus for senior managers and group leaders.

Selected by BEST Consulting in Seattle and the Boeing Company (Boeing Commercial Airplane Group - BCAG) to become part of a team of software process improvement professionals tasked with improving the state of IT/software testing discipline at BCAG-IT using business process analysis and redesign (IDEF0 and BPwin), SEI/CMM principles, and Productivity Plus (P+), a software development methodology. Worked with three lab and test organizations to implement process improvements and a business model that my team designed and the lab and test managers approved. Assisted in evaluation of testing tools and set-up of a tools evaluation lab. Conducted SEI/CMM audits of other IT testing organizations. Received outstanding performance ratings.

Coordinated effort to raise an IT division to CMM Level 3 and managed an 11-person CMM implementation team. Appointed charter member of the division’s Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG). Was member of a local Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN). Division Manager remarked to me that, “We could not have achieved this without you.” after successful SEI assessment by the U.S. Coast Guard

Led the review of the feasibility of IT projects over $25M (Category 1) in size and their architecture implementation status with development managers and the IT Compliance group to ensure that Category 1 feasibility assessments were conducted in a timely manner and that all architectural requirements had been satisfied. Kept management apprised of all key decision points and problem areas. Assisted in training domain personnel in the assessment processes and in collecting and reporting architecture assessment metrics. Handled Records and Information Management (RIM) and IT Compliance processes and management for the whole of IT Enterprise Architecture. Maintained green status for IT Compliance and RIM Compliance more consistently than any organization in Information Technology.

Led in creative technical writing and leadership of technical writing teams:

Led update of BPI-4654 Boeing Information Technology Process for Acquisition, Use and Maintenance of Open Source Software. Assignment based on experience in leading the previous update of BPI-4654 and the extensive update of PRO-6919 Enterprise Information Technology Architecture – both in 2013.

Served as the Chief IT Architect’s voting representative in Category 1 Gate Review meetings.

Reviewed / Handled review and disposition of approximately 1,200 nonstandard application development tool waiver requests over a 3-year period.
