Responsibilities:

Ensure that all required inspections, verifications and audits performed during the installation and termination of E&I equipment, site instrumentation, functional loops checks are performed and witnessed on all instrumentation wiring and tubing systems. Schematic and logic programming of the Instrument Systems are in compliance with the project technical and safety codes, specifications and procedures. Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with AFC drawings, specifications, DEP, Regulations and as per approved project ITP.

Actively involved with all aspects of safety, ensuring the work areas are maintained in a safe condition and Shell 12 Life Saving rules are adhered to comprehensively.

Attend and actively participate in Safety Walks; Stand downs, Meetings, Tool Box talks, pre start Step Back 5X5. Permit related JSA and JHA and regularly complete / submit Safety Observation Cards.

Verify Contractor and subcontractor quality and safety qualification audits with recommendation for approval.

Provide coverage for E & I, F&G, PAGA, Telecommunication & HVAC inspection duties when required or as directed by the CA and E & I Engineers.

Ensure E & I work is completed in compliance with project safety policies and procedures.

Monitor and report weekly work schedules for proper level of detail to ensure expeditious progress in E & I tasks recognizing the critical path of the master schedule.

Establish close communication and teamwork with other disciplines to ensure overall successful completion.

Ensure proper custody transfer of Company supplied equipment and Contractor supplied Equipment to the yard warehouse and that they are received, identified, handled, preserved and cared for before and after installation.

Carry out material inspection at warehouse, checked as per requisition and specification and prepare punch list for action by contractor.

Check Material certificates, Hazardous Equipment certificates and calibration certificates.

Carry out field inspection of cable supports, ensure that the cable supporting infrastructure is complete (prior to pulling cables) and as per AFC drawings, Cable Laying inspection, ensure that the cables are correctly installed to their final destination and cable ends are protected from moisture ingress.

Carry out inspection of in-line instruments witness impulse-line pressure testing, point to point wiring checks, earthing integrity tests, field junction box inspection, instrument cabinet inspection, check on the straight length requirements for flow meters, instrument accessibility, inspection of process connections, ensuring that welding activities shall not affect the electronic instruments already installed.Witness electrical continuity, insulation resistance test, conductivity & earth resistance test, protection relay test, instrument calibrations, pop test of PSV & loop testing.

Witnessed the functional test of the E & I equipment, motors, generators, switchgear, etc. and record all reading for reference as per commissioning procedures and sign the completed report which compiled by Testing and Commissioning Team.

Prepare punch list relative to the inspection, giving full description of nonconforming item or condition, and re-inspect after rectification is completed. Verify/sign MC check sheet, ITR “A” .

Carry out the verification of the Ex Components for vendor packages as per Ex register, Ex Check sheets, Certificate of conformity, equipment or package datasheets in compliance to IEC 60079-14 & IEC 60079-17. If during the course of verification for any components which should be Ex rated and is not listed in the Ex register, it shall be added to the register.

Ensure that the register/certificates/datasheets are signed off indicating that all required Ex components has been verified sufficiently. Carry out verification of Ex field components (All Ex components outside of skid packages) -electrical/instrument / F & G /Telecom as per Hazardous Area Certificate and Data sheets, AFC drawings, and signed off Ex ITR”A” Check sheet in compliance to IEC 60079-14 & IEC 60079-17

Produce daily reports of inspection carried out on the site.
