I have spent the last three years teaching ESL abroad in Taiwan and South Korea. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences in Asia and now look forward to further my experience as an ESL teacher on an online platform.
I graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2012 with a BA Languages degree. Studies in my undergraduate degree consisted of English Literature, Spanish, French and Afrikaans. I believe that my linguistic background, enthusiasm for language learning and previous teaching experience makes me an ideal candidate for a position at your establishment.
I have taught English as an ESL teacher in Ulsan and Daegu in South Korea for 2 years (Aug. 2013-Aug. 2014) and (Nov 2015 – Nov 2016). I taught ESL to Middle School students at a public school for 20-25 hours per week (Aug. 2013 – Aug 2014) and at a private language academy (Nov. 2015 – Nov. 2016). Class size ranged typically from 35-40 students per class. The teaching curriculum that I followed was well-rounded with an emphasis placed on proficiency in grammar and comprehension skills.
I taught ESL at a private language academy in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (Oct. 2014 – October 2015). Students were aged 6-11 at a range of levels. Class sizes ranged typically from 6-18 students per class. I followed an in-depth and comprehensive curriculum in spelling, reading and listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and phonics.
Teaching ESL has been a very rewarding experience and I have enjoyed watching my students make progress in their command of English. I am eager to begin the interview process and can be contacted by e-mail, cellphone or Skype.
