CAREER HISTORY

Regional Safety Manager (50+ hours a week) April 2012 – Present

U.S. Army Fort Knox, Kentucky

Serves as the Regional Safety Manager for a 605 personnel organization spread over three States. Is the subject-matter expert and advisor to the Senior Executive on all safety and occupational health matters. Plans, directs and coordinates safety operations for ten subordinate departments. Develops practical solutions to overcome hazards using LEAN principles. Analyzes, recommends and implements all job hazard analysis and risk mitigation measures for the organization. Conducts safety audits to insure compliance with safety policies and regulations. Develops, plans and conducts job specific training and safety seminars based on trends and latest regulations. Uses knowledge and experience as a leader to leverage talent from team members resulting in a high level of job performance and accomplishment.

Developed and implemented a safety program, training all employees on current mishap prevention measures, job specific requirements and HAZMAT handling, resulting in corporate headquarters adopting a similar program.

Program manager for closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring program and badging system for an 800 person compound in Northern Afghanistan, ensuring that all people entering and leaving were vetted and or escorted to assigned work areas resulting in zero insider threats to Soldiers and contractors.

Organizational Safety Coordinator (60+ hours a week) October 2008 to July 2012

U.S. Army Fort Drum, New York

Served as the Safety coordinator and operational logistics officer for planning and execution of all safety and logistical matters for organizations ranging in size from 75 to 450 personnel. Planned and directed activities to include job hazard analysis, risk management and mitigation, accident investigations, safety audits and reporting. As the logistics officer was responsible for acquisition, budgeting, contracting, transportation and resource management. Was directly responsible for leading, training and counseling of 12 logisticians whose work directly impacted the success of combat operations in Iraq.

Directly responsible for the safe operation of a combat outpost consisting of 18 separate facilities, security systems, power generation, sewage, water supply, food and maintenance, occupied by 80 Soldiers and a 70 man Iraqi police force resulting in 98% operational readiness rate for vehicles and equipment as well as the top safety record in the organization. Received commendation medal for performance.

Was responsible for developing and managing a 750,000 dollar budget for a 450 personnel organization resulting in the budget plan being adopted by other organizations.

Built a Safety program from the ground up with a Standard operating procedure, Risk management process, safety audit programs and training resulting in a reduction of safety related incidents by nearly 50%
