Presently, I am employed at Fontana Leisure Park. As part of the Electrical Maintenance Team of the Casino Area, we are responsible in the proper or good working condition of all electrical equipment in our division.

The design of an electrical lay out would depend on numbers of lights, outlets, range outlet, air conditioning outlet and breakers, it specifies the exact location.

Breakers must be arranged from the lowest ampere to the highest one, it will be more convenient and easy in making schedule of load that appears on the breaker’s doors. Install electrical equipment and make necessary changes, adjustments and modifications to obtain desired results. For the electrical equipment, It would be based on the wattage of equipment.

Example:

Aircon = 1HP = 746 watts

Volts = 220V

Find = ampere

Formula:

P 746

My job entails replacing defective bulbs, switches, outlets, etc. I also maintain neon lights with 15,000 volts using step up transformer, from 220 volts to 15,000 volts and a generator Perkins brand 880 KVA. We have a daily routine to check the radiator H2O level and mix a coolant to avoid over heating. Checking of oil to maintain high level base on oil stick. Clean Air filter, charge it with diesel and run for 5 minutes once a week to avoid problems during power interruption and malfunction of the generator.

The 2117 amp Generator is supported by Automatic Transfer Switch 2,000 ampere each for normal and emergency.

They have 2 kinds of transfer switch:

1) DPDT = Double Pole = Double throw = For Manual Only

2) ATS = Automatic transfer Switch

The Main Breaker – Power Break 1 spectra with logic board – reading the Casino’s Daily Load; L1= 1.11amps, L2 = 1.20amps, L3 = 999amps daily operation.

I also installed a manual transfer switch using a breaker for normal and UPS emergency.

Motor Control Circuit 3 phase or single phase would depend on Diagram. I experienced installing 3 phase across the line 440 volts/220 volts using a control panel design, using a contractor, and overload relay and stop/start button.

Finding and repairing electrical equipment must be done using an analog multi-tester or digital tester. There are different kinds of testers in finding different faults or problems:

Example:

1) Multi-tester – checking of resistance, volts, DC, and others

2) Clamp Ammeter – checking of load

3) Thermometer – laser radiation

4) Phase meter – checking of phase sequence

5) Megger – checking of grounded wire

Finding a solution is not easy unless you study the procedure of equipment or you know what the problem is. Diagnose, evaluate, prioritize and complete necessary repairs by the use of tester. Electrical breakers, single motor and 3 phase systems and other equipment. For Example: There is no power in the living room. Check the breaker. Due to overloading, breakers will shut down. Check the load by using clamp meter, if the reading is higher than the normal load allowed, reduce load and replace 10% higher for newly installed.

Before and after finishing a project or undertaking, necessary precautionary procedures are being done to check possible faults.

Using an analog multi-tester check each circuit for shorted or wounded wire. First, place the red lead on the ground being wet by water. Note that the tester is place in resistance or OHM to show continuity because water is a good conductor and it will get 99% accuracy. The black lead will be placed on the breaker’s individual lugs and screws.

Polarity is commonly used in DC which either + or – direction.

Documentation took place after I had finished a task given. Just like in my previous jobs, an accomplishment report should be submitted after every shift schedule to insure that quality service was being made and company’s time was used properly. Documentation is very important in our job for monitoring purposes such as staff performance evaluation and for future trouble shooting purposes.

Educational Information:

I have gained my knowledge through formal education at Holy Angel University and Angeles City National Trade School for a period of 3 years.

I was educated at Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines as an Electrician and continued my studies in Angeles City National Trade School from 1990 to 1992.

I obtained the following qualifications in:

Holy Angel University-Industrial Electricity: a one year course where I gained the knowledge of electrical theories. Education concentrated on diagrams, motors and wiring installation from simple to complicated ones. I was taught to create electrical diagrams and then do actual wiring for three-phase motors and wiring installations based on these diagrams.

Angeles City National Trade School-Electrical Technology: a two year course where I gained more knowledge and experience in the electrical field. We engaged in further electrical theories and actual wiring installations. Our instructor was an electrical contractor himself, thus making us, the students, do the permanent wirings of the building he was into, where he derived our grades. I also had undergone on-the-job training for 720 hours at San Miguel Corporation-San Fernando Pampanga.

I have acquired my National Certificate II(NCII) in Electrical Installation and Maintenance from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA).
