Repaired equipment and irrigation components, including broken lines; time clocks; back flow preventers; pressure valves; sprinkler heads; water valves; and hauling of sand, dirt, and sawdust. Operated and maintained county compost facility. Created and maintained yard waste compost supply pile throughout the nine months of the year that the supply was available to the public. Created and maintained on-site garden plots. Ran wood chipper to create wood chip pile for free use by the public. Assisted customers who came to facility to drop off yard waste, and recorded all receipts and money gathered from customers. Used front-end loader to load customers’ trucks with wood chips and/or compost as available. Maintained a clean and organized brush pile. Maintained all county vehicles and equipment used for the site. Educated public and customers in composting and yard maintenance. During autumn months, took in collected leaves from city and county pickup for mulching and composting. During winter, when the site was closed to public access, worked on crews that monitored the closed landfill, ran the county recycling program, and patrolled county roads to find and cleanup illegal trash dump sites.
