FCI is a nuclear, aerospace and industrial sensor company supporting a variety of industries, designs in-house producing many custom products. Champion of change; initiated quarterly review and site visits of key suppliers, revised metrics, improved supplier evaluation methods, and involved QA more directly in the supplier development process for fabricated parts. Initiated a full company LEAN implementation, raised awareness of RoHS issues which resulted in creation of a full time position to address these issues. Used fishbone and root cause analysis to work on longstanding materials issues. Interviewed, trained, supervised and reviewed performance of staff, represented Purchasing in MRB, administered a kitting program for PCA which I had started when previously working at FCI, purchased “A” items including outsourcing in China, reduced inventory. Passed ISO audit with no findings.

July 2002- July 2005 Purchasing Manager Z Microsystems

Headed the purchasing function for this ruggedized computer manufacturer as it prepared to double in size, including selecting, training, supervising and mentoring staff, source development, prototype support, LEAN implementation, developing a spec for and selecting new operating software as part of an inter-departmental team, implementation of Kanban systems, and developing Demand Contracts for high dollar items with unsteady usage. Supported outsourcing efforts. Met challenges of rapidly changing technologies for products such as displays by developing relationships with suppliers and working closely as new road-maps emerged.

Previous Experience includes:

Medical/Biotech purchasing at Invitrogen and IVAC, where I was a supervisor and promoted to new product development team in less than 3 months; was on the team with their first ever on–time, on-budget new product introduction of critical care equipment, used networking to obtain medical grade batteries during a world-wide shortage. At Invitrogen worked closely with freight forwarders and customs importing live viruses, bacteria and human remains for medical research in a post-911 environment.

International experience includes Material Manager for twin plants for FMC (a Fortune 20 company) in Juarez/El Paso which included developing a purchasing department from scratch, re-organizing stock rooms to reduce inventory shrinkage and supporting 16 major proposals which increased business by 70% the first year; In one case the bid was so low it was audited by the customer and I then negotiated it down by 20% post-award by working with the major manufacturers. As a Purchasing Supervisor at Honeywell supported maquiladora high-rate production where shortages and inventory were both improved each month. Also worked on an inter-divisional team for national contracts for travel, drug testing, copiers and other non-product items. Have managed suppliers in Asia, Europe, Africa, Central America, Canada.

Aerospace experience includes Purchasing and Production Control with McDonnell Douglas, where I worked on make/buy, capacity, tooling and configuration issues in a multi-plant manufacturing environment for LRIP production of the AH64 Apache, did fact-finding and cost analysis of spiral bevel transmission gears and engines the most expensive items. At Hamilton Sundstrand managed all aftermarket and repair purchasing, which was the only profitable part of the company. At Bell Helicopter Textron managed the supplier of the year for fabrication, (state of the art composites) supported on-time on-budget LRIP production on V-22 Osprey, Improved turn time of military repairs by over 50%, and streamlined engine repair by working directly with the customer, and production control.

Proposal Support and Marketing experience includes Market Research Manager for 2 divisions of Allied Signal. Position was created for me due to outstanding work supporting proposals for complex military systems and services. Met with customers, evaluated potential work, analyzed possible acquisitions, met with customers, wrote portions of proposals.

Production work included wire harness assembly, board assembly for a medical ultrasound manufacturer and wafer cutting, welding (hermetic sealing), molding, tinning, marking and test of hi-rel diodes for General Semiconductor.

Operating software experience includes SAP, CostPoint/Deltek, JD Edwards/PeopleSoft, Baan, Man-man, Maxim and other systems.
