Waste Operations

Inspected storage areas according to RCRA regulations; and provided technical guidance to personnel and project managers in accordance with DOT 171.1/OSHA 1910.120 and DEQ regulations as applicable to construction operations at the facility.

Responsible for all operations of waste storage, disposal and related regulatory compliance issues…and project construction logistics.

Reviewed Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for hazards and regulatory content of current and new formulas.

Ensured proper labeling and packaging classification was correct for shipment.

Responsible for managing all aspects of remediation for twelve nuclear storage facilities and all characterization, treatment, storage, disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes on Fernald Site.

Conducted physical inspections and evaluated compliance records for industrial facilities of meat processing plants, dairy producers, chemical processors, boat manufacturers, automobile plants, cement manufacturers, mining operations and oil pipeline transfer stations, based on the directives of EPA.

Proficient in characterization storage and disposal of materials and waste including radioactive (LLW, MLLW, HLW) and transuranic waste.

Managed the logistics, recycling and disposal of universal waste.

Inspections/Audits

Evaluated and inspected various security systems or hardware (surveillance communications, fire suppression and detection, alarm systems, locks and keys) on a weekly schedule to ensure all safety policies and codes at the facilities were maintained.

Ensured hazardous property is received, characterized, stored, inspected, documented, and manifested/disposed of in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and safety requirements.

Performed audits for waste oil companies to assist with federal site inspections and verifications of all chemicals present in the facility; conducted a site wide audit of client companies that included examination of all documents, including manifests, bills of lading, MSDSs, and purchase orders; interviewed dock employees to uncover contaminant trails and lapses in protocol.
