I have been in the in the forestry industry my entire working history.

I have over-seen logging crew's, since I was sixteen. I have owned sawmill's that employed upwards of fifty employees, at two work locations. And have managed two to three logging crews at a time. But in the last year's workmen's compensation, has become too great of a factor. Along with the fact that raw material is in short supply in this immediate area. And the lack of trained or people willing to learn the industry. Having decided to sell the last of my remaining equipment, and to get a position where my skills can be utilized.

Responsibilities

Following directions and orders of land owners as to how they wanted timber harvested. Taking instructions are how an order was to be cut and processed. Following and obeyed governmental regulations on timber harvesting.

The production of raw material into finished lumber and wood products. Operated machinery and equipment front end loaders, forklift's, skidders. Cut timber, skid timber, use of saws, managed employees, managed office, banking, buying of timber, log's and lumber, sales, advertising, sale of lumber and logs, the hiring, training and supervision of employee’s, payroll and tax's. Deliver product’s to wholesale and retail customers which included logs, lumber, pallets, mulch and finished product.

Accomplishments

I went to work June 1, 1972 at which time the company had one other employee.

By 1993 we had over 50 employees in three areas/departments working. In this area is a large number.

Skills

My management skills as far as leadership, knowing and understanding of what it takes to get people to be at work on time to deliver a full day's work and have a positive outlook. The expertise and skill in the operation of all kinds of equipment machinery and the use of hand tools lift gates, booms, overhead cranes. I can operate all rolling stock. I have an Illinois class A driver’s license with TX endorsements.
