Safety/Security Manager (June 2002-January 2015)
In June of 2002, I was took a position as site Safety/Security manager. Key areas of improvement have been in life critical procedures, programs, and processes that focus on continuous improvement in Safety Management Systems including Behavioral Based Safety as well as CFAT compliance with DHS regulations and OSHA’s cooperative program VPP.

Production Coordinator
In 1995, I held the position of Production Coordinator for the site reporting to the Production Manager. Manage and oversee a 100+ person organization that produces over 800 different products to meet our various customers’ in very competitive markets. Plant operations utilize one of three manufacturing processes (oxylation, sulfonation and kettles and blending). The plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week in both the continuous and batch operating modes. Responsibilities include: planning and directing the operations workforce; overseeing the training and development of all operations personnel; and interpreting and administering all site, and/or company, policies, practices or procedures. Key accomplishments were driving discipline towards production execution in an S&OP process.
Trainer (Jan. 1995- Aug. 1995)
Developed and revised manufacturing procedures and SOP’s relative to the Sulfonation and Kettle processes.
Implemented training courses for personnel including classroom and in the field training.
Developed tests in the above processes. These tests are currently in use and defined in the ISO standards to measure operational competencies for the purpose of progression and unit proficiency.
Production Operator (Feb. 1979- Jan. 1995)
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of the continuous sulfonation process including batch blending and kettle operations as well.
Competent in the bulk loading and unloading of railcar and tank truck materials.
Experienced in packaging procedures and shipping requirements (both inside and outside the plant) including aspects of Hazmat and D.O.T. documentation.
Participated in various continuous process improvement teams for all units including the development of procedures for our quality system and unit mechanical design.
Key Accomplishments
Worked with improvement teams on waste reduction projects reducing costs of disposals and rework.
Coordinated efforts with transportation and logistics department to identify ways to reduce our demurrage/detention charges by $10-12K/month through better scheduling and use of drop trailers.
Developed procedures, programs, and processes that brought the site’s Safety Management Systems into regulatory compliance. Additionally, served as Management representative for a Behavioral Based Safety process.
Developed procedures and processes that brought the site’s security vulnerabilities to a level of competence. Additionally, lead a project to install security detection systems that include CCTV, intrusion detection, fencing, & lighting.
Led site efforts in benchmark activities geared towards VPP certification through OSHA and achieved STAR recognition in March 2012.
Led site efforts towards compliance to minimum performance standards in the corporate audit (SAQ) protocol. Site is now at reference level in all 20 categories.
Led site efforts towards cultural change and an Injury Free culture.
Joined the corporate SAQ audit team and conduct audits with audit teams.
Assisted in standardizing LOTO programs for the corporation
Lead a sustainability team known as STAR for BBS processes
