I am presently working as contract employee at Verizon Wireless in Schaumburg Illinois as Construction Engineer. I am presently working on Dark Fiber to the cell sites. To date this has included the routing of dark fiber to over 600 existing sites. This includes routing of fiber into or through tower sites, hotels, office buildings and building sites in Chicago and suburban areas using existing infrastructure or placement of new. I also performed post-construction inspections for fiber in the ROW, utility easements and into the Verizon equipment space. I also worked on special projects that included TMA installs at 115 sites, COW installations for 36 events.

Over saw Project Network Vision build out in 2013. This involved complete replacement of equipment, antennas and lines at all cell sites while maintaining an operational telecommunications network. Responsibilities included the monitoring of progress of vendors, crew availability and equipment inventory. Visit sites during construction and inspect workmanship and that company standards are being followed. Review changes to scope of work to minimize change order requests. Approve vendor payouts based on project progress. Meet with landlords to resolve issues.

Worked on Project Ocean which consists of approximately 280 new cell site builds through 2015. I was responsible for engineering site walks, selection of A&E firms, permit expediter, general contractors and other vendors to perform required due diligence work. I order all required equipment for the sites, schedule delivery of equipment to local market, request quotes for bids, select and hire contractors to perform work. Maintain project schedules to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly goals. Schedule vendors for optimization of site equipment and perform site turn up. Perform final project inspection and prepare punch list. Review close out documents for projects.

Project manager for cell site construction, I also managed microwave projects, LTE microwave projects, temporary cell site deployments and served as Safety Officer on the Emergency Disaster Response Team.

Microwave projects included new microwave hops and upgrades to existing microwave paths and averaged 100+ sites per year and included material ordering, tower structural’s, lease amendments, bidding, contractor management and scheduling up to and including turn up of microwave hop. Worked with Aviat on microwave radio purchases and equipment for these projects.

Safety officer position is a volunteer position; I joined at the start of the disaster response team’s formation and helped conduct safety briefings during local emergency events. Completed 10 hour OSHA safety certification class and created a safety refresher class for employees working in the field at sites.

Construction Manager- Special Projects. Projects are all high-level visibility projects. Overseeing the installation of a small Cell / DAS (Distributed Antenna System) via fiber optics throughout the City of Chicago and suburbs, this project had a $50 million dollar budget. I handled all railroad agreements, hotel (headend) ground lease agreements, construction of hotel buildings and all equipment installations, fiber route design through ROW using utility poles, trenching and ATT conduit leasing. I managed the engineering of fiber routes, permitting, bidding and awarding of projects to Underground General Contractors. I worked with ComEd on agreements for pole attachments for both fiber cable and equipment placement. I purchased all equipment needed for the hotel and node locations and the installation of all equipment.

Other projects are related to providing coverage and capacity for Nextel sponsored events and large-scale customers. Oversee project status in the region for three NASCAR racetracks.

Since 1999 I provided the safety training in the Midwest Region. Completed OSHA train the trainer certification classes and wrote, prepared all class materials and taught safety classes within the seven states in the Midwest Region. I presently serve on the MWR Nextel Safety Council and MWR disaster drill team.

Previous to this position I was Midwest Regional Support Manager overseeing purchasing, vendor relations, FAA/FCC regulatory compliance, construction standards, inventory, general safety and OSHA personal protection equipment training. Presently work on regional and national evaluation and standardization teams for materials and services purchased by the company.

Manage all 3G projects for the markets in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Assemble a department to handle the project consisting of about 25 people.

In addition, perform expansions and upgrades to MSO (Maintenance Service Operation). The MSO construction work included Glycol HVAC systems, Fire protection, UPS systems, Generator installation,

Also manage the construction of office space for 170 people in Elmhurst. Overseen the decommissioning and shut down of two warehouse locations used by Nextel.
