INDUSTRIAL EXPOSURE
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIAL SIMULATION INTERNSHIP, INDIA June 2014 – August 2014
Team lead of 10 members
Topic - To create and convert a hatch into a sedan to run as a taxi with focus on fuel economy
Calculated power and torque distribution and efficiency of different types of transmission
Sketched designs for the exterior and interior components for a car
Executed leadership skills and emerged winners among 20 teams.
INDIAN RAILWAYS INTERNSHIP, INDIA November 2013 – January 2014
Learned the overhauling process of a diesel locomotive
Hands on experience with large locomotive parts including the nondestructive testing methods for wear
Executed a project to reduce overhauling times by identifying performance bottleneck and using Theory of constraints.
PROJECTS
Powertrain Design – used a Saturn SL1 to perform a real time Coast down to find coefficient of aerodynamic drag and coefficient of friction and a real time acceleration test to find maximum power to compare it with road load power. An excel sheet to choose the best gearbox and final drive design was developed to provide with maximum speed, acceleration, fuel economy and the best compromise of all the three conditions
Hybrid Electric Vehicle Range - developed a SIMULINK model to analyze vehicle battery range on City, Highway, US06 and EU NEDC Cycles. For this project a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was used with a Westinghouse motor to determine its range and current for each driving cycles
Design & Implementation of Hydrogen fuel tank - designed and constructed a hydrogen fuel tank inside Kettering for power generation, ensuring safe, efficient implementation and operation.
Cell to cell voltage variation in a fuel cell - Published research on cell to cell voltage variation in a both 4 cell and 25 cell low temperature PEM stacks to determine how the voltage varied at different levels of air stoichiometry
Steering System Architecture – understood the concepts of low speed and high speed steering and calculated various factors such as bicycle model, body roll management, cornering compliance, kinematic steering ratio for different car types
