Responsibilities and Accomplishments
Learned Skills Unit Firearms and Tactics Instructor
Oversee training of both cadets and commissioned officers of the Austin Police
Department
Provide training in all matters relating to firearms and their employment
Provide tactical training in diverse areas such as building searches, active shooter
situations, high risk traffic stops, etc.
Each year responsible for training approximately 1800 sworn officers, as well as 120
cadets, totaling over 100 contact hours of instruction a year
SWAT Team
Maintained position of Sniper and Entry Officer
Frequently assisted with other agencies such as the FBI and US Secret Service to
provide technical or tactical assistance during major events or VIP visits
Additional responsibilities consisted of High Risk Warrant Services, Barricaded
criminal/suicidal subject and Active Shooter
In 2004 won the Best Sniper in Texas competition
Responded to 600 plus SWAT callouts and High risk warrant services during my
tenure on the SWAT team
Performed as lead sniper for a year and half, which consisted of establishing training
and qualification for all snipers
Field Training Officer
Instruct recruit officers in department policy, city ordinances and state law
Instruct recruits in department procedures and day to day operations
Monitor all paperwork completed by recruit and have corrections made as needed
Conduct counseling sessions with recruit on subjects that need improvement
Conduct meetings with supervisor on recruits performance
Patrol Officer
Patrol assigned areas of the city to ensure security of life, property, public order and
rights of citizens
Uphold laws and codes for the State of Texas and the City of Austin
Investigate criminal activity and incidents locally in the collection of information,
identification of criminal offenses and recovery of stolen property and interact with
other law enforcement agencies
Coordinate crime scene control, investigations, field interviews and collection of
physical evidence
Accurately prepare and complete reports, records and related documents
Attend court hearings to provide official testimony, in relation to crimes against
person, property and narcotics

Assigned to Bravo Co, 1ST Battalion, 75TH Ranger Regiment
Attained rank and position of Sergeant (E-5) and Fire Team leader
Responsible for a four man airborne ranger fire team
Maintained accountability of all mission essential equipment for combat fire team and
for all communications equipment (i.e., radios, and night vision) for a platoon size
element.
Maintained position of Ammo NCO, accountable for all ammunition expenditures for
platoon size element

Assigned to Delta Co, 1st of the 143rd, Airborne Infantry
Performed duties as Platoon Sergeant for two years
Mentored and maintained accountability of soldiers within the platoon, providing

equipment and vehicles valued at approximately $3M
