Enthusiastic and reliable postgraduate from The University of Stirling recently completed an Honours
degree in Sports & Exercise Science. Cooperative and hard working in a group or individually, looking
to gain experience in the field of sport and exercise by applying a passion for sport and an education in
sports science.

Modules have covered all of the major factors underpinning sports performance including the
application of physiology, sports psychology, injury rehabilitation and sports nut r i tion. Also
covered was a range of human and animal anatomy as well as cell biology which has provided a
v ivid understanding of whole-body and cellular processes.
The course also covered every day health and fitness at home and at work. This also included the
i mplications of a lack of regular physical activity for both the individual and society as a whole
and how best to get the population meeting exercise targets.
4th year dissertation focussed on whether a carbohydrate mouth r inse could improve the sprinting
and endurance performance in young male and female cyclists. This project was planned and
completed throughout the year with a full research paper wri t ten to analyse and display the
results. The results from this project indicated that the mouth r inse may have had a positive
effect on maximum power output.
Personal skills developed while at university were: working as part of a team, time management,
communication skills and computer skills including data and statistic handling and analysis,
l aboratory skills and leisure management.

Shandaken, New York
Employed at Timber Lake Camp as a Golf Instructor and Counsellor for a summer season and invited
to return for a second year. Lived with and taught children of varying abilities aged 7-16 years.
P rovided golf instruction for classes of up to 20 students, as well as helping during football periods and
evening activities. Exhibited excellent teamwork, motivation and a strong work ethic throughout the
t wo summers of employment. Effectively communicated with the students under my charge, fellow
counsellors and supervisors during golf periods and throughout the day.

B allachulish Worked as an assistant at the local Co-operative store whilst home from university for
t wo summers. Responsibilities included working at the t ills, helping customers with queries and
managing stock in the store and in the stockroom. Working with customers and fellow employees
helped to develop communication skills.

Worked in a local shop for a year at weekends and after school while completing my final year of high
school. Duties involved managing stock levels on the shop f loor and in the stock room, maintaining
s tore cleanliness, dealing with deliveries and helping customers. This employment during high school
helped progress t ime management skill with having to balance work and home work as well as
i mproving communication skills.

Work experience during 3rd year of high school as an assistant green keeper during the summer
season. Worked alongside the head green keeper, learning how to maintain each area of the course
t hroughout the day. Duties mostly included cutting greens, fringes, repairing divots and also raking
and maintaining bunkers.
Skills and I nterests
M aintain a strong interest in playing and watching football having played for primary and secondary
school teams and then throughout university in intramural leagues, twice winning the 11 a side
i ntramural league. Also played for Ballachulish senior team in the local summer league whilst home
f rom university for the summer months. Keen mountain biker, r iding and constructing local t rails and
has interest in fi tness t raining. Has an appetite for all kinds of sport and anything competitive and
completed the SFA Early Touches football coaching programme and later took several football coaching
classes with younger children. Held a full U K driving licence since October 2012.
