Director, Human Resources, Galt House Hotel, Louisville, Ky, June 2006 – October 2016

One of the largest independent hotels in America (1300 rooms, 130,000 sq. ft. Function space, 7 F&B outlets) I was hired to re-position the legendary hotel as the employer of choice in the hospitality industry. Branded the hotel as an employer who created a “Culture of Care; Developed corporate university, Introduced J1 Visa trainee, intern and summer, work and travel programs, Implemented applicant tracking and the “Work Number” programs, improved retention and reduced lost time work comp claims. Workforce consisted of 6 direct reports, 120 exempt managers and up to 1000 hourly associates.

Field Manager, Human Resources, Butternut Bread (Interstate Brands), Cincinnati, Oh May 1999- April 2006. Organization consisted of a wholesale bakery, multi DOT compliant truck depots and 45 retail sales operations located in three states.14 labor agreements governed workforce of 700 associates. Active role in collective bargaining. Introduced a positive employee relations program in an atmosphere previously known for grievances and arbitrations.

Director, Human Resources, Regal International Hotel, Cincinnati, Oh May 1995 – Nov. 1998 972 room

convention hotel, unionized workforce. Negotiated labor contract 1.5% below projected increases of 3%. Nearly eliminated EEOC Charges and reduced other complaints of discrimination and harassment. Introduced Behavioral Based Interviewing to the management.

Director, Human Resources, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Columbus, Oh March 1989 – May 1995 Hired to facilitate change. Conducted needs assessment and created training programs around the results. Partnered with OSU in an internship program introducing students to the hospitality industry. Won state and national awards for housekeeping training video. Received recognition for participation in the Adopt A School community program.

Director, Human Resources, Embassy Suites Hotel, Columbus, Oh Dec. 1984 – March 1989 Hired prior to the building of the hotel. I was part of the pre-opening team and recruited, hired and trained all staff. Created all associate related policies and procedures
